best brake upgrade for not too much $$$

I only have about $500 to spend on my brakes, I'd like to do the front and back. I was thinking just use slotted rotors and better pads. Any reccomondations using the same calipers and drum setup in the back?

If you got a 10 bolt rear, I suggest looking for a set of used LS1 rear disc brakes. I saw a set for $250. They will bolt onto the 10 bolt with modifications. Then buy a proportioning valve, and do the pads, in the front. If the front rotors aren't warped, you wont need the new ones. Also a set of steel braided lines would help out. I think it could be done for around $500.
