Need emissions parts
The 5.7 TPI engine in my 87 IROC will be replaced with a new one soon and I need the AIR pump, hoses and various parts that seem to be missing for some reason.
If anyone has these parts for sale or know of a car being parted-out, please let me know. Thanks for any help. Ed

Re: Need emissions parts
Hey Ed,
I feel your pain - check out my smog post.
Finding those parts won't be too bad. I suggest getting a new Smog Pump though, i got mine 2nd hand and it is noisy.
I see a couple of TPI's in the San Fernando area for about 1200.
In my experience of literally doing exactly what you are to an 85, you will need to find a parts car and strip it completely, or as I did, buy a car strip it and leave it.
It cost me about $1000 to get the car ready for smog, so it might be worth it.
[Note - i also had no CAT though]
[PS; Alternatively - there is a guy selling two camaros for $1000 in antelope valley - doesn't say engine sizes, an 84 and an 89]

Keep in mind; the picture you posted is for 88+ serpentine accessories, which are different than the 87 V-belt accessories.

Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it! Ed
MoJoe - good catch! Yes, I should have mentioned I've replaced the V-belts in my 87 IROC with a 88-92 serpentine belt system.
It's possible that the AIR pump is the only emissions part from the earlier years that requires a V-belt, so if that's the case the 86 parts Dyno Don mentioned might be just the ticket.
Dyno Don - When can I take a look at the parts? A photo perhaps?
Bob88GTA - I replied to your post but have not heard back from you. Please send photos of the parts to Luckyducky_96701@yahoo.com.
KNIGHTE - Yep, a salvage car would do the job too, but it's hard to find one here in SoCal, especially with the wrecking yards not being able to tell me if they have the cars I'm looking for at their location. I am still looking around even though trudging through wet mud is horrible (sigh).

Re: Need emissions parts
I have all but the manifold injector assemblies. The air pump is brand new. Reason is i started this project before the car was a classic and thought i would have it running for the emissions inspection. Now that it's a classic here in Texas and will be a weekend driver No More Smog Control for me.. Send a msg on pricing and we can talk by phone if you like... Parts are from an '88 5.7 Z

Re: Need emissions parts
The AIR pump hose fitting bolted to the back of the pump is different, 87 to 88. Mixing the 87-down diverter parts to the 88 pump is tricky. If you can figure that out it's not bad. Find a way to extend the front exhaust stud to hang the diverter parts off of for mounting. You'll be able to get it good enough for inspection.
In all honesty, the 88-up parts will fit better because you have gone serpentine. (I did serp. on my 87 too.)

There are a half dozen Camaro's in UPickUPart in wilmington, it's the one just bought by ecology (the octopus logo one) - saw them there 3 weeks ago. That yard constantly has third gens.

Re: Need emissions parts
I'm doing the same thing for my 92. Saw a 91 in long beach on craigslist for $700, just needed an ignition control module and batt, but was taken down later that day. My car is originally from Louisiana and needs all the under hood smog parts to get it registered here. I'm up in Tehachapi and was thinking of giving Dyno Dons a call and maybe make a trip down there.

Re: Need emissions parts
I believe the parts I have are for '85-'87 only with v-belts.
The smog pump is different for sure, I couldn't use it for a serp setup. (it's longer)

Re: Need emissions parts
K thx. The other part I need is the diverter valve and you can't even buy one new. After that just hoses and little stuff like exhaust from the cat back. It rotted out after the rear axle.
