Another Junkyard Visit: Couple of "Rare" Finds
Today at the Pick Your Part yard on Pendleton at Glenoaks in Sun Valley(San Fernando Valley), I found a couple of "rare" items that are worth mentioning. And by the way, it's half-price weekend at this yard.
1982 Z28 Pace Car. Composite/fiberglass hood(non-functional) appears to be in good shape. Three of its four red-striped wheels were on the car and in good shape, so the fourth might be nearby. All of its seats were there, including what looked like LS front seats: the foundations looked good and solid, and the silver vinyl wasn't too bad, but the blue cloth was in bad shape; they look like they might be worth saving and re-uphostering, if someone is so inclined and interested. Everything else looked pretty trashed. I can't say I've ever read about anyone in SoCal being interested in the Pace Car, but it's not often that one turns-up, so I thought it was worth mentioning.
1991-'92 NON-gfx Firebird. NON-gfx Firebird models are nearly impossible to find, let alone finding one with bumper covers in good shape. And this one's front AND rear bumper covers are both in very good shape! IIRC, the entire front clip was there too, so for people who need parts or want to do a swap, there ya go. If color matters, it's black, and with a full-step cleaning/polishing/waxing, these parts would probably be "acceptable" until a full-car paint job can be afforded.
I didn't spend a lot of time in either of the large Sun Valley junkyards, just went through quickly, and those few things got my attention. Not many thirdgens at the Penrose/Telfair yard, but seemed like quite a few at the Pendleton/Glenoaks yard. And as I said, it's half-price weekend at the PYP on Pendleton at Glenoaks, just be prepared for wet weather!
