Title it in Alabama. A title is a title anywhere, then just register it in California.

basically you will have to file paper work with the dmv as a specially constructed vehicle and it will have to pass an inspection (lights, plates correct hitch etc)

These guys are right. Take it to the DMV to get the ball rolling, either the CHP or DMV will do the inspection, then rivet a tag on it with serial numbers. Naturally you will have to pay "fees", and they will then issue you plates, stickers and a title as SPCNS (Special construction). It's not a major deal, as with trailers, no smog or anything is required.

Re: HELP i need to title a "homemade" trailer
cant have to have the trailer here, all i got to do here is go to the DMV they walk out look at it (hillbillys could care less about lights and safty chains idoits), then give you a tag, and then the state sends you a vin plate a few weeks later
and yea it will pass inspection, i put lights, chains, brakes, and a 12k hitch on it
thanks for the help guys, i will pass this info on to her
