Everyones favorite Machine Shop here in So Cal....

Hey guys, just wanted to know where some of you get your machining done.

I just need some recommendations within an hour or so of the San Bernardino Area. Reputable shops are hard to find these days.

I am trying to find a place to build me a 355 LT1 short block...forged.

Thanks in advance for the help.

you want a MACHINE shop? to machine your block? Or someone to actually build you a motor?

Taylor in Whittier. It will cost you, but I've never heard anything bad about his work. When you walk in you'll probably see a bunch of nice small blocks, a few flatheads, and maybe even a couple of aluminum-block race motors. Seeing that people with a lot of money into their motors are patrons is reassuring.

Taylor Engine

I don't see Jay in the staff picture, but he's the guy to talk to if he's still there. Great guy, great service. Loaned me a ring compressor(that I didn't even ask for), cleaned up my cylinders with acid(after I melted pistons all over them and other shops had told me the block might be toast) and gave me a free ring after a broke one while filing.

I just spoke with a local next to Redlands in Mentone named Doug over at Budd's Automotive....some of you may know him, he usually rund M<ustangs over at CA speedway....

Anyway...

He said that whenever he is building something nasty, Dougan's is his shop of choice.

Thanks for the info guys...
