Where else would you run them? That is the proper place, and it won't cause problems unless the leave them open and the police hear it.

Cut-outs basically bypass your muffler or rest of the exhaust system. If you put one in front of the cat then when it is uncapped it is basically running open headers. It is a piece of tubing coming off your exhaust tubing that can be opened to allow exhaust to go out through it or closed to let the exhaust go back through the regualr exhaust.

yeah, they basically bypass your exhaust system...mine was installed in the "I" pipe almost under the passenger seat (dual cats have been removed) you can also get electronic valves to adjust the volume from inside your car...I have a McCord Power Plate on my cutout and I love it....sounds like a NASCAR when I want it that loud...or I can have it flowmaster loud...best of both worlds...

Thanx,

A cut out before the cat's should not throw any codes, as long as you have and 02 sensor there you may be ok. But you never know different strokes for different folks, Perhaps just a such a day you see a code and running with a cut out you may wonder, but most likely to answer your question it should not. Now which cut out do you get for a dual cat system, I don't know if they make different ones for that set up. Myself don't like the sound of cut out's. The sound from the muffler is what I like, A gutted cat sounds real nice along with a test tube. Then when you have Headers it's going to pick up more flow and sound any ways, A cut out you can spend 100 bucks or more, to buy it and weld it in, Id buy some headers and go that route. Find a used set of headers for 200 bucks, I found a brand new set of Slp tri Y's dual cats for 200 I have not put them in but I know I'll like the sound and performance better than a cut out.
