Phoenix area junk yards
Does anyone know of a good junk yard in the Phoenix area to get third gen parts? My trans am needs a couple of things. I have never actually gone to a junk yard before.

Going to a ' Junk' - 'Recycle Parts' - 'Salvage ' yard is a blast... just not in the summer. (But, it should be cool this weekend.)
Some yards will charge you $2.-$3. bucks just for going into their yards to look around, but will take off the entry fee with your purchase, if you have one.
Some yards will let you go out to find what your looking for, and pull the part off your self. Take it up to their counter to pay for the part. Take your tools.
Other yards, you tell them what you want, then they will pull the part off them selevs.
A lot of the yards are connected by intercom. If you need something and they don't have it, they will get on their intercom and make an anouncement about your car or needed part. If anyone has it, they will respond back.
Before you go to a yard, know approximantly what your part should cost.
DO NOT wear nice clothes. If you look like you have money, they may charge you more.
Look in the yellow pages under Salvage Cars/Parts.
There are A LOT of yards on Broadway & Buckeye Rd... A LOT !
Here's a few places that I've been to. You may want to call/go on line first to see if they are still open.
* RIGHTWAY AUTO PARTS - 2502 W. Broadway - 602-268-1481 - www.ritewayauto.com
* AUTO CARRERA - Foreign & Domestic Car & Truck Parts. - 3231 W. Broadway Rd. - 602-268-5900 - www.autocarreraparts.com
* ARIZONA AUTO PARTS - 2021 W. Buckeye Rd. 602-393-6581 - www.ArizonaAutoParts.com
* FRED'S USED AUTO PARTS - 22201 N.21st Ave. - 602-869-9550
* DESERT VALLEY AUTO PARTS - 23811 N. 7th Ave. - 623-780-8024 www.DVAP.com
Good luck & have FUN ... If you see a '82-'84 Camaro, please let me know.

Your other option is to watch Craigslist and post what you need on here. My neighbor has a stash that he puts on Craigslist periodically and I think the rest of us all probably have things we're holding that we might sell if someone needed them. My concern with a lot of the salvage yard parts in AZ would be sun damage if the car has been there for a while.

Thanks for the information. It will probably be at least a couple of weeks before I go to one.
I am currently in need of a power antenna cable as mine broke a couple of nights ago. Also a new power mirror switch, a working fuel tank vent valve and the upper door panel molding for at least the passenger side. I am sure that there are other things that I need but thats what I can think of at the moment.

Re: Phoenix area junk yards
1. pick-n-pull is another great yard to check. thats where i went to find mine, but the lot off of chandler and the 10 got closed down :/ i wonder where there stock got moved to because when i went they had like 4 gen 3 firebirds and 5 gen 3 camaros
2. check there stock online, most places have a search feature on there websight to look up year/make/model of cars from your own home
3. and some parts are not only destroyed by the sun but if there a place where you pick them then some people take the easy way to get something out
and also 83ZZZ28 it seems the u-pull-and-pay (buckeye and 25th ave) has a base model 1984 camaro. well according to there online inventory anyway
EDIT: and also my 83 is now available for parts as well http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4598646166.html

When it stops raining and you have time, would you please take some pic's of your wheels with a close up of the lug nuts, interior, including the cargo area.
Thanks,

Hey LX, Check your email. On Aug. 5th, 2014 @ 5:52 pm for my acknowledgment & thank you for the pic's. Since it's a TA, some of things I was looking for will not transfer over to my Camaro.
