My GTA update
Hello! I've been meaning to post, but I haven't had a lot of time to work on the car.
Finally, I've had a chance to make some progress on MY GTA. With a combination of neglect, abuse, and "mickey mouse" work, this car needs TLC.
The tires and brakes were shot, so I'm about done with that. I did all pads, rotors, hardware, and hydraulic hoses. I just need to bleed and test the new brakes. I changed all the filters and the non-crimped fuel lines as well.
One of the POs used wire nuts to splice wires! I see plenty of other cringe-worthy wiring work I will address as well. I bought a set of Falken Ziex for less than 500, too. They are H-Rated, but whatever. With the work the car needs, I wouldn't drive it anywhere near that fast anyway.
I knew what I was getting into, and it's been fun making things right and I've learned a lot on the way. Luckily, the previous owner did some of the dirty work I wasn't looking forward to. He did the fuel pump, filter, and replaced all the injectors with new Bosch units. They are yellow-orange. If anyone knows what type of injector they are let me know. He replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and MAF.
I'm hoping that a couple more hours and I will have a car that's safe enough to drive. Perhaps even tonight! There will be lots more to do, but I look forward to making that happen.
I bought the Goodyear "blue" hose kit. I have a new belt as well. The door panels off so I can clean/lube the windows and locks. The entire interior needs a thorough cleaning. It's not that bad overall. The worst part is the cracked dash and driver's seat. I look forward to hunting for parts.
I will have to do the exhaust system soon. I have no other word to describe it other than "tragic".
Once I get the car cleaned up, I'll post pictures!
. Possibly later today!
