91 Trans Am lives again!
Hello everyone,
I don't do a whole lot of posting on here, mostly lurking. However, I recently moved from Surprise to Peoria and have finally gotten my car through emissions for the first time since 2010. I hope to be driving it around town soon now that I have tags. The next major issue I have to tackle is the whining that comes from the rear of the car once it gets warmed up. I have a feeling it may be the same as what's being covered in this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...regarding.html
Anyways, I hope to see some of you on the road in the future.

Not sure I believe heat is the issue but none of my cars run a stock fuel pump and only 1 still has the stock intake on it. But I've never had this problem.
If you're going to replace the pump, I've been using the Racetronix kits and getting all the additional wiring to replace all of it including the connector that goes through the top of the tank. Only issue I've had is a bad gas from somewhere on the epic trip to Texas killing the pumps in both cars that went on the run.

I replaced the fuel pump with an AC Delco unit a few years ago, right before it began its string of failed emissions tests. Also replaced the sending unit since it had quit reading accurately. I probably don't have a thousand miles on either component. Right now the whine manifests itself after the car has been running for a while, whether I am driving around or letting it idle in the driveway.
If I have to replace it again I will probably look at the racetronix kit. I am just not looking forward to dropping the tank. I had a mechanic friend help me last time that's no longer around.
