I was suprised not to see anything on any of the forms about why there were so many new camaros down that way lol

was not put on by the AZ All Gen camaro club, It was really put on by Camaro5.com. I think if you guys would of pulled in & checked out the cars you guys would of been surprised at the way you would of been treated. The C5 Camaro group is one of the best groups around. They ship alot of the 3rd genners down this way for information.

I am sorry that you guys think 5th gen owners are snobs, but we are not. If you guys ever go over to Camaro5.com & even say you have a 3rd gen it would be kewl. Heck I own one currently. (ok fine I currently own 4 generations of camaros hoping for a 5th one sometime down the line)

Many of the 5th gen owners have at one time or another own a diff generation of camaros. Maybe because you guys are younger & you guys dont think you can hang with the older guys?????

I dont know. But I can say this if anyone sees a bunch of 5th gen cars going down the road fall in line you never know you may be welcomed.

dont take this wrong but maybe it was they way you presented yourself.

I know when people meet me first time they either Like me or they kind of think of me as odd. lol. & also depends on the time of day, if its early in the morning I am grumpy & just pissy. but if its after about 10am I am happy go lucky person, (means I woke up lol)

I bite off my best friends head last july when he came out for our car show from Detroit (Yes he works for GM & yes he was at firebird raceways last weekend) He said something to me at like 7:30am & & just jump down his neck & he came back around about noonish & i was all lovey dovey lol. he asked my husband what he did wrong & my husband said you tried to talk to her early in the morning then insulted her car (he called my corvette a Male lol)

I still think if you would of drove up & wanted to hang out you would of met some really kewl people, both 5th genners & those that own other camaros.

I saw some pics of a few 3rd gens & 2nd gens sitting on the show area.

Re: phoenix az peeps

I was autocrossing with one of the local corvette groups on one of the skip pads at Firebird on Saturday.
The event was mostly catering to the 5th gen crowd, for every 10 to 15 5th gen cars that came through the gate there was one car from one of the other gens.
AZ "All Gens" (also know as AZ 5th Gens) is a local club that is generated off the Camaro5 board.
No comment will be made on how they treat prospective members with other gens, or even worse Firebirds/Trans Ams. Suffice to say there are some very nice individuals in the group, but as a whole not really a warm fuzzy bunch unless you're one of "their people", I'm interested to see how many will still be around when their cars are 10+ years old...
I'm assuming this must be a local thing cause the 5th gen guys I've met when we competed in Duel in the Desert were pretty cool, but they were all from CA.

Form what I understand, 3,000 cars is highly exaggerated... I think the high water mark was like a little over 1000 people and maybe 350 cars....

I am very well aware that it was an open invite to cars from all over the US and thrown by Camaro5.com.
It was more of a clarification for you what the local Camaro5 chapter was.
From what I understand most of the peeps in attendance were from the South west. (Althought I saw plates from as far away as OK and SD going through the gate.)
Alot of midwest and east coast peeps were not happy about the rather remote location, and been somewhat vocal about it in alot of threads. Having done the road trip to meets at Bowling Green and Indy, I can't blame them, it's a long drive.

Nothing on that scale that I am aware of until Super Chevy in the fall.
If you like road trips, I'd recommend LA Invasion Memorial Day weekend
http://losangelesinvasion.com/?page_id=10
or Super Chevy Vegas in 2 weeks..

Re: phoenix az peeps

I'm not looking for anything massive. Just to meet up with some guys around here that have some. I just moved here and bought mine from a kid in Gilbert so I'm new to the forum. Have about a month left until it's running. Bought a new ZZ4 with a 144 blower, nitrous, methanol, T56 and interior swap. Just have to bolt the motor and tranny in and I'm back out on the road. Looking to join some groups when it's done.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was told not to park my "Old" car next to them and that "Everyone just wants to forget" about the thirdgen and the "un-savory" people who drove/drive them" I'm not making this up! Also they flamed me on my facebook page. They had something like 60 pics on their page and when I noticed that 58 of them were fithgens (There was one firstgen and one 4thgen for the other two pics.) For nicely asking why no thirdgens were shown they attacked me, saying they had plenty of thirdgens in their club and that "Most of the owners of thirdgens are of the low-income variety and do not have the resources to build a presentable vehicle, worthy of taking pics" Needless to say I was angry (To those of you who "Know" me, yes, I CAN get angry!) I'm not proud of it, but I then proceeded to ask if I can show off my STOCK trailblazer LS at the show, (I figure if they can show off a STOCK camaro V-6, then my trailblazer should be a "Show car" too!) Again, not proud of it, but I dont respond well when I'm insulted...

If you are on Camaro5 then you know who I am under a diff name though lol.

I drive from Washington state to reno NV every year & yes its a long drive, but next year it needs to be out east somewhere, or midwest.

LOL They had it in Georgia last year, now they need it somewhere else.

Funny how the only 1 that ever seems to show up at anything is the 1983 Z28 that belongs to one of the members. I can't recall ever seeing another one as part of their group. I guess if you can have 1 from each of the earlier generations that is enough to qualify as the "All Gens" club.

Thank you Tom, for noticing that too! I didnt want to bash these guys, and I'm sure they arent all like that... I just didnt like their comments when I pulled up at the pavs a few weeks back... "OOOOhhhh! Uh, IROKKKK!!! I'm a bad-azz..." and so forth... I was nice and didnt even make fun of their stock cars, but my patience is wearing thin. Sorry, if you pay $600.oo+ a month for your car, that does not make it a show car. Kinda reminds me of the PT cruiser fad we had a few years back. Remamber that? Throw some chrome wheel-well moldings and a few stickers on it and call it a show car! LOL. I like the fithgens, i do. If all goes well, I should be ordering/purchasing mine (2SS vert) in the next five months or so, but I still wont be driving it to the shows... Until it has at least the basics! (Supercharger, non-stock wheels, exhaust, suspension, etc, etc...)

As I said before, it will be interesting to see how many are still around 10 years from now. I can think of a small handfull of diehards (any gen) that have stuck it out that long.

I agree, DesertFox! I've owned thirdgens since 1990, and had a 4thgen ('00) that I got rid of after about 2 years. Thirdgens are just special to me.

Re: phoenix az peeps

I'd offer to challenge the local All Gens club to a track day to see who's got the better cars but the last time they had a chance to participate in something like that, Super Chevy last fall at the Duel in the Desert event, only 1 of their members was willing to actually drive his car in the competition. The rest just wanted to sit next to theirs in the parking lot.

I think I need to finish the 18 psi mod on the 92 and go show them what a 3rd gen can do to their 5th gens.....

Tom, I would LOVE to see that. Eh, they will have TONS of excuses. They always do... Cannot wait to get the 427 back in the car! (Maybe this time, with a supercharger! Can you say: "4-digit horsepower numbers?") LOL

Re: phoenix az peeps

I'm cracking up reading all of this. About 2 weeks ago a guy came into my work with a maroon 5th gen. Base model, RS V6.... I seen him come in and said "Hey nice car man" He turns around with a cocky look and says "No ****, it's a Camaro" I told him that I had an 85 Iroc that's about to get finished and all he says is "Oh those old ones? I beat one on the way up here"... Oh how I wish I had mine in the parking lot that day... I'm sure there would be a line of excuses as to why he wouldn't go to Firebird and prove me wrong lol.

Re: phoenix az peeps

Of course there would be! Thats the type of response I get from most of them. One of the reasons I've been seriously re-considering purchasing one of the 5thgens is the attitude... I dont want people looking at me thinking "Oh, I bet he's an A-hole, all those new camaro owners are."
It's like a kind of "Middle-class, snobbery" Even the Vette owners are easier to get along with...

Re: phoenix az peeps

I'm curious, how many of the 5th gen owners have turned a wrench on their own cars? Probably not many. Like has been said above, the ability to finance a $30K+ (V8 version) or 20K+ (V6 version) car simply means one has a job and decent credit. It doesn't make one a "car guy".

I heard the same stories about 4th gen owners when there were no 5th gens.

Personally, I'm not interested in 5th gens mainly cause they are close to 4000lbs (Jeep Grand Cherokees are ~4400) and are stuffed with creature features that I don't want or need. If GM offered the 5th gen in a stripped down format (similar to the Mustang LX 5.0 or the Formula Firebirds) then I'd be interested.

I can tell you that most of the guys I know, that own 5th gen camaro including myself wouldnt allow a dealership or another shop to touch our cars. we do our own stuff here.

Now I may take it to a detail shop to get it cleaned up since I cant do it due to a recent back injury & I dont trust my kids to wax the car. They do OK washing jobs, but a wax job I only do that lol

Well, waxing is another thing altogether.... Can't fault you for that! And the weight is one of the reasons I'm going after a vert and not a coupe. If it's going to weigh 2 tons, at least it better be cool! I would like to see a 1LE option returned to the lineup.

Jason, I heard that when you get angry you turn green, grow giant muscles, rip out of your clothes and start smashing 5th Gen Camaros (aka Incredible Hulk style mad). I saw you mad once at the pavillons and snapped this pic of you. It was scary

Re: phoenix az peeps

Ok guys, I not sure why all the hate on AZ All gens I have been in that club since it first started and believe I was part of the original group. I think I am member # 35. They approached me and asked me if I wanted to join back in the day at the pavillons and I have been to a lot of there club meetings and events have always been welcomed by the group.

I think what has happened and what happens in a lot of clubs once they grow in size is they attract some people that are not necessary very pleasant. Jason, I know you have seen it in the VJC. But that does not mean the whole club is terrible. I know the founders of that club Nick and Ryan (who has a 4th gen) would have been very displeased to hear what happened to you but they cannot control everyone in the club (they went from a group of about 40 to I think 500 in a year). There is going to be jerks in any club once you get to a certain size.

I think if any of you came with me to one of there smaller meetings and had a chance to talk to a lot of the guys from the original group you would have a different opinion and many of them own Camaros from the other generations.

Re: phoenix az peeps

Same with our camaro club, its odd to hear that our founding members (who are still very active in the club & have been since the club started in 87) if they took leading officer posions that people would leave the club, or hear that we have snobs in our club & then they say the names. They are not snobs they just are standoffish, until you get to know them.

we have over 200 members in our club, but only about 30 ever show up to meetings & events. these guys are the core group. if someone new wants to step up & become an officer, go for it. but if you mess with us, Oh man you better duck & hind.

some of the commets here, kind of have me thinking maybe you guys need to stop & look at yourselves. (now dont get off on me ok) My iroc would take most mustangs on & eat them for lunch, my corvette would take most camaros on & take them out to dinner, then the new camaro would take alot of the older cars out & eat them for lunch. Heck with 426hp, thats more hp than most of the 3rd gens even thought of having back in the day. & thats from the factory. Heck yea most 5th genners may think they are better than you. unless your car is modded out their car can eat yours for lunch & come back for 2nds. Big flipping deal, who cares???

if someone came up to me with their nose stuck up in the air about Oh yea big deal you own a 35k car, you are not a car person. I will get in your face.

I dont know where to stand most times lol.
I got a old truck, a pre gas war camaro, a wanna be GSX vert, a mulet loving camaro, a hi class corvette vert, a bubbled out camaro,a rough & tumbled truck, a Old person car, & a new hot rod pig of a camaro.

then of course I go to work & I get told to stick with the rough & Tumbled truck & the old persons car, because if I drive the other things people think I have money. & its a slap in peoples faces lol

LOL, NOT a good hair day for me! I'm so embarassed!!!

just dont like being ridiculed, is all... I know what you guys are saying about a few bad apples ruining the whole batch... The problem is that the few bad apples are the ones that stand out. I mean, lets face it: If you took your car to Midas (For example.) and had your brakes done and then 10 miles down the road they failed and you crashed into a pole... You wouldnt feel like ever going to another Midas, would you? My Twins (6 years old.) Go to most of the shows with me and, after being ridiculed, as we were leaving, One asked me "Daddy, I thought camaro owners were all nice people." I then had to explain to them that not all people, are nice people and what the middle finger (One of the females with a Bright green 5thgen was so nice to display in front of them.) meant. I just dont feel like that is what they meant when they said "Take a kid to a car show"... It was the administrator of the allgens website that flamed me most of all, BTW. It's ok, i'm over it now, and I learned a valuable lesson out of it.

Re: phoenix az peeps

As far as I'm concerned, a car under warranty is not a show car. Give it about 15-20 years and let's see if they are still as strong as they come across. I have an 87 Firebird that I've done almost all the engine mods for TPI that can possibly be done (minus porting the plennum and heads). I like the way it drives and can care less if someone can beat me with their new Camaro or what ever they have. My car is still in the works, but I am happy with what I have. If someone wants to be a snob about their car, let them. If they tell you to park somewhere else, ask them if they own the lot. If not, they have no say. The third gens are cheaper to own, but at least they can be owned by anyone. Getting them fixed up is what we are about. Some have better means than others, but the wanted end result is the same. If any 5th gen Camaro owners think they can hang with us, they better know what they are talking about when shop talk happens!

Re: phoenix az peeps

Just thought i would mention, I have driven next to a few 5th Gens and as I passed I gave them thumbs up and smiled and in return they did the same. But one day I was parked in a large plaza and the most ugliest 5th Gen painted dull pink with pink rims to match, I almost got sick. I just want to leave a note on it and say> what the F*** were you thinking? I have seen a few really super HOT looking 5th Gens. I would own one! Right paint style specks, nice looking ride! I am sorry drknow that you had that experience. I look at it that if they have a attitude its because they have a 6 yr car payment..lol

Re: phoenix az peeps

the 5th gens disappoint me. why do all the modern muscle car recreations look damn near the same? dont get me started about how the new chargers look like the 300's, and damn close to the mustang.

and why did the new GTO look like a neon?

just sayin.

I know what you mean! It took a little while for me to like the new style and I'm not crazy about the way they look from the factory at all. But, with 5 or 6k worth of accessiries, they look killer.
