Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

Well after about 3 1/2 years with my GTA, I'm afraid to say I have lost it !! No I didn't sell it or it wasn't stolen from me; it was impounded for 30 days due to my stupid dumb ignorant a** catching an extreme DUI (and other charges) weeks back . To make matters worse I have no job at the moment to even try to get it out which really sucks a** if you ask me ntm all the that comes with this type of charge including jail time which I'll probably serve (possible 30 days). I'm in a real s**thole right now and haven't even begun to take care of it yet until my courtdate next month. Sorry to type so much crap guys and I'm not doing it so you can feel sorry for me but I really did love my GTA and still do at the moment which really has me bummed out. A friend of mine offered to pay the fees to get it out of the impound and give me some cash on the side to sell it to him cause he wants the car as well. He told me that when I get my situation straightened out as well as with a job, he'll sell it back to me. I probably won't want to buy it back from him then as it has a salvaged title and needs some work but that doesn't mean I don't want another GTA. I'll own another one so help me god but it won't be for a good long while. I did learn from all of this to never ever do it again and its just not worth the headaches! I'll still visit the forums though just not as much until I acquire another GTA. Take it easy and don't drink and drive!

Later,

Phoenix

Believe me bro if I had the money on hand which I don't, I'd get that thing out in a heart beat but the way things are at the moment I won't be able to. I forgot to mention that I'm eventually going to have to get an interlock device also. I've been job hunting too but no luck with that either. I think I'm cursed or something . I'll still visit the forums though.

Re: Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

Some times we learn very hard lessons in life, affecting our loved one and innocent people. My Brother wreaked his camaro about 8 years ago almost killing his 5 year old Son. He did three years in prison. Change many family members lives. He never took another drink when he got out. His Son had very bad head trama, something he will live with forever. I have never been a drinker, and never ride in a car with someone drinking. I hope this will help you to realise that life is hard enough with out adding drinking into the mix. Sorry you are loosing your ride.

Re: Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

As I stated in my first post, I'm not asking for any sympathy or sorrow. I'm man enough to admit that I committed a stupid, wreckless and even childish act that I will have to 'dig' myself out of even though it'll take quite a while! Like built91Z28 stated, I could of put lives at risk and luckily no one was crossing the street or on the sidewalk that day. Just thinking about the "what if" really scares the s**t out of me which is why I will not... I repeat will not touch a drop of alcohol ever again when I'm behind the wheel of a car (less a GTA). I don't mean for this thread to be all about my crappy situation but about my GTA which I had a blast owning and driving. I also posted this to vent a little because all I've been doing mostly is thinking about it so thanks to those who have taken the time to read and give me pointers. Seriously!

Camarosrock1989 - Thats so sad to hear about your brother's son. The time behind behind bars I would of faced if I had injured somebody is another scary thought that came to my mind (I was riding alone btw). Loosing my baby this way really has me p****d at myself .

Scootermunch - It'll take about $600-$700 to get the car out of the impound. Add another $250-$450 to obtain the insurance, release paperwork, and interlock device so in total its about $1150 give or take.

Re: Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

Really? If that was the case I'd settle for a job at Mdconalds making minimum wage and pay back every cent. It's actually surprising to know that there are people willing to help me out with my impounded ride... I'm kinda speechless about it. Just the thought of it makes me appreciate the awesome people that are on this forum even more thanks for the effort man .

Thats true about the phoenix rising again from the ashes... he also tends to make mistake though and does learn from them!

Take it easy guys

Glad to see your taking it seriously. From the first post I was getting an attitude like it wasnt that serious to drink and drive. I have a friend who's dad is paralyzed from the waist down because of a drunk driver. I know people who dont take it seriously and laugh about it. It drives me insane. Glad to see your ok, no one got hurt, and you learned your lesson. Hope everything works out for you. Stay safe.

Re: Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

I've been taking this seriously since it happened! 'Til this day its still fresh in my mind. To tell you the truth, I was a few points away from a super extreme DUI... wayyy worse of a charge but mine is still pretty bad! I saw a guy laying on the street a couple of weeks ago here in town; apparently he got hit by a drunk driver and it was not a good thing to see. This came out on the news and sadly he didn't make it.

DRIVE2FAST - Everything I own isn't even worth $500... the only thing bieng my car itself! It sux cuase today is the 30th day of it bieng in the impound so its pretty much theirs now.

Re: Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

Man, haven't logged in for awhile, and I already see grim news *sigh.* What kind of rut did you get yourself into phoenix? Lesson is hopefully learned, even if it's rather harsh, yet deserved.

Yeah, your car is gone, and chances are, they are gonna put it up for auction. If your friend wants it, he should go to it. May get it for cheaper than the amt owed for the car (impound charges etc...) Also, just so ya know, that's a real friend right there for ya. Willing to help out his buddy in need of help. I tip my hat off to him. If such a thing ever happened to my friend, by god I would do everything in my power to get his car back. No questions asked.

LikeDrive2fast said: "A Phoenix always rises from the ashes."

That would prove true should you somehow get your car back. Only person that knows that car better is you yourself. If you got it back, not only would it rise from the ashes, but it would also serve as a reminder of a foolish thing you've done. See it for what it is. Other than that, best of luck to ya man.

Re: Got some bad (and embarassing) news!

Sad story..

Wanted to say I am in the same boat as you with the job hunt.. Nearly 2 months from completing the car to be road worthy and my place of employment lets me go cold turkey.. Now I have been searching for a job for almost a month now to no avail.. Can't even get hired at McDonalds or Arby's or even the local Car Wash.. Nothing but older adults working at these places and for minimum wage..($7.25 now) I have bills in which minimum won't cut it.. I am very knowledgeable in many fields. Graphic Design..Mechanic..Computer Tech..and the obvious General Labor..

Oh and to make matters worse..EVERYONE wants 5 years experience with a degree.. It is sad when I can school someone in Computer Tech or Design but because they have the degree..they get the job.. Companies are just not willing to interview anyone without a degree.. I have even stated I would do internship for a week to show I can and still nothing.. Such a sad story for all the kids coming out of High School who can't even get a job at McD's or Arby's because 100% of the employee's are now 35yo+ adults who were fired from their jobs.. Such a horrible state the country is in.. I mean seriously.. I can not find a job for the life of me..

Landscaping is always open..but for $7.25hr start and 12+ hours a day no benefits at all..screw that.. Way too much work for nothing.. Also why do landscaping companies always underestimate the time needed to do a job? Seems very repetitive.. I noticed this working in LS years ago as well as my brother now and my buddy too.. Everyone just wants the job..to ensure at least some money comes in..but to keep it cheap enough to keep the customer..GRR.. To bed I go.. Advanced Auto Parts tomorrow.. May look into Summit Racing near me..but need a car which I do not have running..lol.. Ahh I can go on and on.. Hope all goes well..or at least better in time..

Drive2fast, you have an interesting sig. My goal will be 200 MPH if I ever have the IROC stroked out to a 383, or turbo/supercharge the Mustang.

Should just get there the cheap way and buy a Yamaha R1.

You seem awfully picky about finding a job when you need one so desperately.

Phoenix - I am sorry man, but lessons need to be learned, even though it's the hard, hard way.

Haven't been on here in a good while and I thought this thread was dead!

Yeah it happened here in Tucson in April, you nailed it Gary's towing has it. I'm pretty sure I still can but I kinda want to move on to a 4th gen (93-97) T/A but would still want a 3rd gen in the future. I really really appreciate the help but with no job, I might as well just sell it. Checked the IM and sent a response.

May look into Summit Racing near me..but need a car which I do not have running..lol.. Ahh I can go on and on.. Hope all goes well..or at least better in time..

With both tires on the driver's side flat and a dented fender, I highly doubt it .

Yeah and sadly my clumsy a** had to learn the hard way. I visited my public defender last month and was offered a plea offer for 2 days in jail + dropping my extreme DUI to a regular DUI. Yeah its still bad but it could be worse. If I was to decide to fight the case and lose (which most likely would happpen), I would probably do 180 days in jail so I accepted the plea offer.
