We have dates, now..........

Seeing as we have set the date and place of the next TGO gathering, we need to figure out what we are going to do. I will just start to throw out some ideas, so please feel free to chime in with whatever you think we should do.

On Friday, I say we meet up somewhere and sort of hang out and get to know each other. Those who can make it here can meet the rest of the gang. Not much to plan on that day.

Saturday, we can meet for breakfast at Dennys or some place similar at around 9. For those of you coming from out of town, I can arrange for you to use the car wash on base to clean your cars. Then we should head down to SIR for Super Chevy. That should take care of the rest of the day. If not, we can head out to Speedway to make a real showing of third gens.

Sunday, meet some place for a quick bite to eat and then we can come on base for pics. There are a few places on base that we can use for some really cool shots. If you were here last time, you know of one of them. If a majority of people want to BBQ, I can get a nice park with grills, benchs, and a play area for kids lined up. We can all pitch in a few bucksand go shopping for stuff at the commissary (CHEAP! )

Like I said, this is just a quick idea. Dirk has already offered a few places to sleep, and I have a full (for two CLOSE friends and a twin to offer. Heck, I even have a comfortable couch.

I would really like to see at least 30 or more cars show up.

Thomas

The reason why I have not offered the use of my house is because I'm planning on racing at Super Chevy. Doing so severely limits my availability. However as of today, 10-11-03, I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about being ready to race. I have less than 500 miles on my new engine, I have not purchased a replacement supercharger yet, and my MAF to SD (749) plug & play conversion harnesses are still on my workbench. Once I finish the harnesses, I have to burn a ton of EPROM's with no guarantee that I'll get it right by mid-November. To make things more difficult, I am having difficulty finding even ONE person who has successfully tuned a 3-bar MAP to the 749 with P&H injectors. Even though chances are likely I won't be ready by the 15th/16th, I have to leave my options open. That being said, I cannot offer to host a gathering point at my house on Saturday.

However, if we are getting together on Friday, it is my normal Friday off from work, and my house is a convenient location to meet. For Phoenicians, I live only a couple of miles north of I-10 (Exit 273, Rita Road), which is out of Tucson proper (no traffic out here), very simple to find, and only five minutes from SIR, where the Super Chevy Show will be held.

So as plans are finalized, if you guys feel my location is a good point to meet on Friday, I welcome it.

taking pictures on the base sounds nice.
I am afraid we'll have to bring only one of our cars though. My ta is the only one regestered and insured. Chriss formula is too much of a pain to pass through emissions.
I also think at least a couple of us should show up on speedway.
show them ricers what real thirdgens look like.
How about that?

I'm also down for Pictures and a cruise. I probably wouldn't be able to do the Friday thing.

Anyone from Phoenix want to cruise down Saturday morning?

Are you going to be there all day and night? I am sure you can at least show up for a BBQ or dinner, cant you? I know that you will need your rest, but at least show up for some pics and stuff.

This will be my last meet with you guys, as I leave for Texas around the 12th of January. I would like to make this a great gathering to remember all of you by. Lots and lots of pics!

Does anyone have any other ideas on what to do? We are meeting in one month from today.

This is getting close! How many of you plan on attending? If anyone wants to come on base, I will have to have your info (name and DL info) to get a blanket pass for everyone. The last one went great!!!

We can all just meet somewhere and plan on what to do from there.

Aww hell.. why not (someone said something about food?)
I'll be up Saturday, arrival at SSC probably 2ish. Maybe even with the Turbo 2.8.. though I really doubt I can finish that within the next month.

I'll email the info (need girl's info too, or just driver? I'm used to FHU's Bravo+ alert level, so I figure both, but just want to make sure)

I'm planning on doing Saturday in Tucson. Sunday is still questionable as is having my significant other as a passenger. Tom, if you still have my info from before let me know, otherwise I'll resend it.

I didn't keep anyones info from the last one. Just a privacy thing, I guess. If you want to come on base, PM or email me your info.

Bill, I have yours already, so no need to resend it. I will need info for anyone that is going to be in the car that is over the age of 16. If you are bringing kids, dont worry if the are younger (under 16). What I really need is the name, address, and Drivers License number to include state.

Instead of going on Base, we could go to Purple Heart Park which is smack dab in the middle between my house and Willie's house. Super close to Super Chevy too! Since we'll all be in the area anyways, we could do it there and not get shot by those trigger happy base guards

I guess it's called Rita Ranch Park technically

Look for the Houghton and Rita intersection. It's just west of there. I live just off that intersection and Willie lives about a mile west of the Park.

If you head SOUTH from that same intersection (Houghton and Rita), just past I10, you hit SIR (the track). It's right next to Pima County Fair Grounds, the big green area you see using MapQuest.

So.. like.. hop on I-10 westbound (just for the fun of the downhill on-ramp.. muahaha), hop right back off at rita, head north and follow rita till you see a big freakin park on the right? sounds good to me.. I've never driven on DM so I'm clueless as to its layout.. a park off a major road sounds much better. Rita Ranch Park does show up on mapquest, about 2 miles north of I-10

My vote's on the park. Everyone else?

Mm.. forgot to mention. Holy crap! Dirk lives!

Another question.. when? I'm definitely not leaving SIR till after round one of the drags.. I'd say I'd be staying till round 2, but I'd like to see your guys cars before sundown, and my pictures from last year's round 2 runs reflect the sun setting completely while the jet cars were running.

Man.. crap.. I gotta clean my car

I'm in the same boat. If you want Chris, we can drive down with whomever Sat. morning then the two of us can drive back on Sat. night (plus whomever else can't stay) I can get Sat. off but getting Sun. off too would be pure schedualing coincidence. Let me know! You still have my cell #?
