I haven't been posting this up on the other boards like I initially wanted. I am still debating whether to do that or not. One thing to consider is if we did have a huge turnout with all gens...how would food/drinks and such be handled. I certainly don't have the $$ to provide for a large number of people. I'm thinking just this first time keeping it on a smaller scale. Everyone is still welcome to come out though so invite all your friends and family. I just don't want to get slammed and be short with supplies.

On the other hand I could just start a thread on other boards and communicate with a representative of their boards. That would make it easier for me too.
Thoughts anyone??
I had strategically picked the shelter according to location of Concession stand, restrooms, bait shop, pier, and dog park so that we had everything close by. I think it would be more fun if everyone brought their own supplies or relied on concession, so that we don't have to constantly cook and clean rather than converse and socialize. I know I don't want to be stuck over a grill all day. Just my thoughts..

I'm in! Glad I checked back after a while of being gone. Did my first long beach drive in the car yesterday and it performed flawlessly.

Awesome!

Camaro might be boosted as well by then. We'll see how the 5.3/T-56 swap goes in the Mercedes.

Me three! I have a lot of work left to do between now and then to get my car back on the road again. It's doable though.

Re: Florida Gathering!!

I purchased a passenger side front fender ground effect today. First time having the car on the road in almost 2 years and a bag of trash explodes on the highway taking out my ground effect. Will have it painted and installed before this event. Will also be ordering the Dr. Colorchip repair for my front end. Other than that, a really thorough detail and that's all I will be doing to it by October. Sounds like you all are doing a lot more work than I will be doing.

I have been picking people out of those threads and sending them all PMs. Seems to be working.

That sucks about your ground effects. That's my kinda luck. I have a big list, but it's a mostly a ton of small stuff I've been wanting to do. This event just finally gives me a reason to stop being lazy and actually do them. The bigger things are to wire in things like the radio, horn, fog lights, and line lock. Then attempt to recover the dash pad and build a center console from scratch. Then paint the car. The paint is beyond horrible.

I'm working on my 88 GTA replacing the motor and doing all sorts of things to it after 3 1/2 years since the 305 seized on me. So Miami should be represented if everything goes as planned.

This is for all gens, so come on out with what you have. Bring others as well!

Good to hear David. Spread the word down in the Miami area.

I might even be there - depending on the kid status. And best of all, I shouldn't have a far drive by then!

But the car looks like crap - miami has not been good to it

Re: Florida Gathering!!

Tomorrow or today....I plan on hitting other boards full force, see how many other gens we can pull. I imagine we only get majority 3-5th however if I can, I will make a flyer for the plant city show which has a huge 1st and 2nd gen showing. Unfortunately this rain looks to happen thru my wedding which is when the plant city show is suppose to happen this month so i will hand it out other months as well. If you all have a show near you in the next coming months let Fbody owners know of this event.

There are no F-bodies in Pinellas County, and if there is, I never see them. Maybe a beat up camaro owned by someone who obviously doesn't care for it, occasionally.

Re: Florida Gathering!!

anyone that really plans on going to this, please let me know if you have a 3rd gen steering wheel and airbag in good condition, mine is a 92 camaro. so i dont want any of the older style crap. i will have money when i go and will want to buy it. when i got my car it had/has an aftermarket on there and i dont like those. was thinking of trying to put a 4th gen wheel and bag on it but dont know if it will fit on 3rd gen column.

Re: Florida Gathering!!

You'll have better luck getting one from up north. All the ones down here tend to split or peel back from the edges. I looked around before I changed mine. Slim pickings around here

i have the one that came off of mine if you want it. not show quality but it will get you back to stock

I hope ragged out, "in progress" rides are not frowned upon. That's how I'm rolling now but I'd like to see everyone else's stuff.

We'll only rag on you if after a few meets it looks in worse shape than it did at the first one, LOL.

Both of mine are 'under construction' and nobody has ragged on me yet! My RS I try to have something new done every time I hit a show or meet, and of course the wife's Z28 has a new dent or scrape for each show (I really wish she'd let me fix it faster than she breaks it!!!)

A PDF of the flyer would allow those wanting to help, to print out a few copies to take to local car shows for added exposure. Just an idea.
Thanks so much!! You rock!! I'll get working on a flyer, of course it will be an "in progress" until we firm up games and prizes. Should we actually have a show? I think that might intimidate the people bringing project cars?

Could use some more feedback before I get cracking on it ;-)

Hey, we are new to South West Florida, haven't found a club yet. Is this a club gathering or is it open to all F-body people?

Re: Florida Gathering!!

Sorry everyone, have not been on here much lately or keeping up with the thread. Been very busy. I have exams every other wednesday. Wedding was last weekend which went beautifully. Have also been renovating/cleaning/painting the new house. I still have a lot to do. Purchased a new air injection and water softening system, no more rust/sulfer(rotten egg smell)/or iron...need to build a cover for it. Also, right now the car is in the carport. I have a workshop but it only has a man door. Will be swapping the man door out for a roll up to put the car in.

I wasn't sure how much help I was going to have in setting this up, but I must say, thank you all.

Very doubtful, would be cool to see though. I almost bought a 70s vette with one of those camper hatches. Cammback I believe it's called. Sold before I could save enough for it.

My fuel pump just puked; but on the upside the IROC project car for the wife might be running by then so one of them is going to make it.
