transmission repair time!!!!!!!

she would do ok as long as i was driving her easy but when you tried to accelerate she would give up. 20 years on a tranny is good imo. ordered and recieved all my parts the other day. got her pulled out yesterday. these are the parts i am using.

1. monster in a box--http://www.monstertrans.com/store/pr...87%252d93.html

2. torque converter--IT IS LIME GREEN!-http://www.monstertrans.com/store/pr...30-Spline.html

3. reverse input drum-http://www.monstertrans.com/store/pr...87%252d92.html

i also have a sonnax billet 4th apply servo kit i am going to try. (free). and a new tv cable from gm to put in. i believe my buddy also has a hardened shaft as well. also found that i need to do some welding on my ypipe. it has some pinholes in it.going to go with a smaller catalytic converter instead of the 3 inch high flow. and possibly lift the engine up and reseal the oil pan, front and rear seals.

Re: transmission repair time!!!!!!!

That does not sound like much fun....I'm surprised my tranny has held up as long as it has. 174k!

Not looking forward to this project. Keep us posted & let me know if you need a hand. I'll be available tomorrow & thursday.....

rear sprag assembly that drives the over run clutches and sprag inner race has some wear as well. when we removed the assembly we found the springs twisted some. ordering the steel piston and return spring upgrade kit, good rear sprag assembly to put in my 29 element. things completed
1. disassembled and cleaned all parts and case
2. superior shift improvement kit installed
3. corvette servo and transgo washer mod complete with springs
4. reverse input drum came complete
5. front pump rebuilt
6. governor weights installed

what we found interesting.
1. my front pump was thicker than the other 700r's we had seen and already had hardened pump rings in it. vanes had no wear notches.
2. sunshell had the large windows same as beast sunshell and the splined part that usually breaks was a little thicker
3. rear planetary had an oil slinger already installed like the corvette's had

so so far im good except the extra parts.

Re: transmission repair time!!!!!!!

all the inner parts are in. modifications are complete.front pump and mods are complete and bolted in. 2-4 servo mods are complete.tomorrow we will bolt on the modded control valve and the pan. i will then bring her home. i still need to reseal the oil pan, timing cover, rear seal, and install a new oil pump. then i will stab the tranny and put that in. then i need to weld up the pinholes in my ypipe and then she will be back on the road.
