Seems to be quite a few LS1 thirdgens in Houston...

Seems every other time I login - somebody else in the Houston area has an LS1 in their thirdgen. I'm pretty certain that's the route I'm going to go myself. So - who and where are all the LS1 swap knowledge and parts coming from in Houston? Surely everyone here didn't order LS1 crates...

That's what I've read as well - ARD. Does he have engines? Do the wiring? What are his prices like? I'm just anxious because I've got a new job and a thirdgen that's in storage.

Daniel "Red92RS" would really help you with that question, thats where he got his done, awsome job too, my next motor will be a 408 bit thats only cause a 496 will be in the works, but if it wasnt for that i would do it too, maybe the 86 TA...

Give Owen a call at ARD and let him know what you want. His number should be in one of the stickies. He did everything on my car, engine, built trans, and full suspension. I am sure xtremeirocz will answer any questions you might have. The best thing about Owen's customer service is he will sit down with you to find out what what exactly you want: built or stock engine, and isnt like everywhere else where they will just say for example $10000 without asking what you want. That is why i picked ARD, and i am glad I did.

Re: Seems to be quite a few LS1 thirdgens in Houston...

Guess I'll look around for his contact info. I'm looking to replace my stock L98 and rebuilt 700R4 with a stockish LS1/LS6 with 4L60E. My Dad and I might want to do the work, but he's getting to the point where he doesn't like working on cars anymore. Red92RS - what exactly did you have done to yours...and could you PM the price you paid for it?

Just a heads up for anybody looking @ ARD to do some work - Jay over there was great to talk to on the phone and their prices are reasonable. I'm excited just thinking about an LS1 in my car

If U really want to get hooked, go take a test ride in Jay's LS1 or Daniel's LS1, and seems like there is another one rolling around here, but can't remember who!

Mine would definitely be different. Looking for a stockish LS1 w/4L60E. I'm going for smooth reliable drivable dependable power. Something I've never gotten out of my tired L98.

Re: Seems to be quite a few LS1 thirdgens in Houston...

Question for you guys - My Dad and I are pretty set on doing this as a father/son project (better late than never right?) and so I've been looking at LQ4 engine takeouts. I've got a question thread on some technical stuff in the LTx/LSx forum, but what are you guys doing for inspection? I'm content to run a cat and even f-body manifolds. Last time I got it inspected, the guy didn't even look under the hood...not sure if I can get that lucky again. I've heard it's nice to know a "friendly inspector"....but what are we looking at legal wise in the Houston area (Liberty county if you know)?
