Drag Strip-- this Friday --6/23/06

I was kinda thinking aabout going out to the strip (which one I'm not sure yet) Friday night--weather permitting of course! I have not made any passes since I got the tranny redone and the new higher stall torque converter. Wanted to see if the new TC made any difference.

Anybody else interested in going and which track would U want to go to? I'm leaning more towards HMP or HRP. Sealy is way farther than the other 2 for me.

Sealy is closed this weekend. They are making it a 1/4 mile track as we speak. They had it closed last weekend, too.

Thanks for the headsup!

This might be the only chance for the next 5 or 6 weeks for me. My Mom is going in the hospital to get an artifical hip in a few days, and during the time she is in the hospital, I will have to take care of her husband, who is going to came stay here at my house, who has severly advanced alzheimers. He requires 24/7 supervision.

Then after 2 weeks in the hosp, when Mom gets out needless to say, she will be on a walker or crutches, so Sue and I will have both of them to take care for several weeks until she an get around again. On top of that I have to go to the Slot Car National championships the first week in Aug --be gone for about 10 days and leave Sue here by herself.

Not looking forward to this, but it has to be done, So, it's pretty much now or never.

So anybody interested? TexB4C--U wanted to go a couple weeks ago--how bout Friday?

Thanks for the headsup. Yeah definately interested. I shot Jenkins an email.

What time do the gates open? That's this Sunday==the 25th?

Last time I ran in the bracket race and won all my races and got down to the final round and they came over and told me that I was not eligable to "run for the money", and I had to park it--UNDEFEATED! So I will probably come out and just make a couple passes and NOT run in the bracket race. That all I want to do anyway.

Just got off the phone with Jim Jenkins--one of the instructors at UTI, --he said everybody is welcome to come out and make some passes!!!

U can not run in the bracket eliminations unless U are a UTI student, or instructor cause the money and awards are reserved for them.

Free drag strip time this Sunday at HMP from 10 am til about 12:30 or 1pm or whenever it is that they start the bracket racing!

I'll be there waiting at the gates at 10am!

That sounds pretty interesting. If I can get some work done on my car Saturday, I might just go.

I'm glad somebody is gonna come out--even if it's a maybe.

Larry Dunlap is too scared to come out--guess he thinks i might open up a can of whoop ars on him

Hey Eric--I know there's no way I can put up the kind of times U can, but I challenge U to best 2 out of 3 60' times race and best reaction times. How bout that?

That goes for anybody else out there--IF YOUR NOT TOO SCARED!!!

I'm always up for a challenge...well if my car is running that is.

As long as I can get out of work on it Saturday, I'll be there Sunday.

What kind of 60' times have you run before? My best to date is a 1.7x

best of 1.79's--usually consistant 1.80's.

I'm hoping that the new higher stall torque converter might improve that!

It very well might. I think my best was a high 1.7 so we should be pretty close.
As for reaction time....maybe I'll get lucky.
