transmission repair in houston

I need my transmission either rebuilt or I will buy a new one. Does anybody around central Houston know of somebody dependable I can contact. I will be buying a new motor with around 400 horse power so it would need to be a good street/strip 700r4.

Hughes & Circle D contact

I've used Hughes two or three times over the years for different projects. Earl Hughes is the owner. 713-895-9532, 9710 Clay, one block west of Campbell on the North side. About 1.5 miles from Gessner.

Also, Circle D on Hempstead @ Fairbanks N. Houston (Blalock) has a good reputation as well.

Also, not trying to take business away from these guys, but when my wife's 96 Ram Air slipped its 4L60E, I ordered it from Probuilt, and it was much cheaper $700-900 than Century (in Richmond), or the other places above, especially being a fully modified and built trans.

I've known Earl Hughes since early 80's back from my dirt track racing days at Big H (now HRP). Earl has always been a upstanding guy, knowledgable and stands behind his product. While I have not talked to him in a few years--when U go ask racers around town where a good place to get your tranny fixed- it's Hughes. Other than the tranny instructer at UTI (no longer does units for the public) that used to be the main builder at a tranny shop I ran in the mid 80's, Earl Hughes is one of the only people i would go to. I am sure there are others that are as good and as fair, but I do not know of them. U can always check in the yellow pages under trannys or performance headings (not sure how they are listed in book) that has an ad that days they specialize in performance applications.
