H-town repair shops/custom work
I really wish we could all put our heads together on this board and come up with a GOOD list of shops that we can all recommend to each other to get work/custom work done. I have noticed from time to time when somebody asks for a recommendation for something, that there is usually very little response. I know there is a "Private installer Index" list/sticky at the top of the board, but that seems somewhat limited in the H-town area.
There are only 4 listed in the Houston area!

I worked in a shop doing just about everything for several years.. never went and got any certs But will do tune-ups, brake-jobs, accessory replacement, catbacks, most intake work, rear end swaps, and all the good stuff I can do without a lift. ( AKA transmission work, unless u have a lift, then I can do most anything) Interior restoration I can do as well, doorpanels, carpet, etc. Also have someone that i send paint work out to (He has done 3 different cars for me, MY personal vehicles), so GFX updates and things as such i can arrange as well. Just ask I'll let u know what I can do for you.

I can do mail order PROM / ECM tuning (85-92 F-bodies TPI).
But, as you all know, mail order chips will only "rough in" a tune (every car and motor combo is different!).
It's better if you bring the car to me that way I can datalog (scan) your car, then burn a few chips to get the tune as good as possible.
PM me or shoot me an e-mail if you are interested.
I can also do almost anything needed period on a thirdgen (except paint and body work, cause I prefer not to do that). LS-1 in a thirdgen anyone?

I can swap motors, aftermarket parts installation, troubleshooting, AC work, Pretty much general mechanical work, MIG fabrication, suspension work. I get a pretty good discount on just about anything (Corporate account, oh yeah!). If you need the hook up on parts, just shoot me a line. I work for cheap if you own a thirdgen, hahaha. I refuse to fix newer cars though, if you want them fixed at a good price, take them to my shop: Aldine Bender Auto- 1215 Aldine Bender

I own a custom paint and body shop Near Hobby Airport in Houston. We do everything from body mods to custom paint (pearls, flames, candies). Anyone from the board gets 15% off Labor. We also have a very good connection for interiors.
Maybe no one bothers to list here because we don't take advantage of what few we do have??? I recall several threads in the last few months that needed some custom fab/welding work that probably could have used one or two of the ones listed above, that I know for a fact did not take advantage of what was here!!!
I'm sure that there are shops that are known to do performance/custom work on fourth gens, that at least are familar with the concept of performance/custom work that would work on third gens. Even if you have not used them, if you know of such a place--PLEASE list!
I know that personally, I will be installing a set of LCA Spohn relocation brackets this weekend and I don't have a place lined up to do several short welds.
Maybe we could at least we could start a list of places "NOT TO GO TO???!!!'

try ARD, they do everything from custom trannys to motors to turbos and blowers and dfi. plus they are the fairest price in town and will stand behind anything they do. 7139849140

ARD is like Advanced Research Dynamics or some such thing right? I met a guy that works there last weekend out in Katy with a Nissan 240 SX that they had put a LT1 motor in. The thing was badass. I talke to the guy a bit, long hair, pony tail, don't remember his name. Seemed to really know his stuff.

hmm Aires eh? good name, the guy was pretty hyper, but cool. He was talking about some pretty wild stuff they do over there. I believe he said the shop wa located off the Beltway or somewhere, I don't remember. He was zooming off to race a Firebird or something. He was talking about something like 700HP. Is said holy crap, are you spraying? and he said yeah, about 400HP shot or spray!!!! I didn't know that was even possible. Gotta be a little hard on the parts, I guess with a shop like that it's easy to replace/repair stuff.

that pile has gone 11.50's which is pretty good, it needs a new motor though. but it has come a long way since ard started messing with it. i dont think i have ever seen a car not go faster after being there.
