700r transmission hard and late shifting
ok heres the deal i got a 87 camaro 350 TPI w/ a 700r tranny and it shifts hard into 2nd but i doesnt shift until u get on it and thats at 7000 RMPs and when im even ez on the throttle it wont shift at all, but when i get it to shift into 2nd it shifts fine into 3rd but wont go into Overdrive. so i took out the tranny and the servo on the side i took it out and seen that it was missing a spring, i was wondering if anyone knew what that spring does and could that make it not shift rite? and adjusting the TV cable doesnt do anything it just makes it shift from 1st to 2nd more harsh.

Re: 700r transmission hard and late shifting
That missing spring is your problem.
The springs act against those little levers with centifugal force as it spins
in the transmission.
This controls shift timing and firmness.
Look to B&M, they offer a shift improver kit
that replaces those levers and springs. The
kit comes with an assortment of different weight levers and heavy and
light springs. Its sort of a trial and error thing selecting the components
but easy to do.
Download the instructions from B&M, you'll understand.
