Removing oil cooler

I'm trying to clean up the heater and coolant hoses under my hood, and I realized that the 2 hard lines going under the block are for the factory oil cooler. I would like to remove it, but is there anything I will need, like a new oil filter adapter? How does the stock cooler come off?
