swap vortec long block to TBI injection
Hi,
I have searched thru the posts and did not find an answer to this specific question:
I want to swap a '99 vortec long block, into my '88 2wd full size truck, that had a TBI 5.7 in it.
I am going to get the GM intake that has the tbi bolt pattern and the vortec head bolt pattern, so the hurdle I have to clear now is the ignition system.
I plan to retain the TBI system, so can I just swap the TBI distributor in? Or are the VORTEC blocks different in any way? DO I have to change the distributor gear?
thanks!

Re: swap vortec long block to TBI injection
are you not interested in switching out just the heads? i dont think your gonna get too much extra power by switchin the entire motor itself.

Because I don't have to. I'm not the one that came up with ..... that.
How about, you explain yourself? Like, tell us about how putting those heads on some L05, will make more power than leaving them on the motor they're on.
