Should be a 2-bolt block. IIRC, the only LT1s that got a 4-bolt block were the Corvette LT1s. Caprice, Impala, and F-body LT1s all had 2-bolt blocks.

Actually I think that all the LT1's were 2 bolt even the vette motors. The 4 bolt blocks were the LT4's I think.

All LT1's were 2-bolt. The LT4 (which was a corvette only motor until 97 in the SS's I believe) is 4-bolt

uh....no. F-Body/Impalla/Roadmaster LT1's were 2 bolt. Corvette's were 4 bolt, as was the LT4.

Well that clears up a misconception I had. I'm getting a corvette LT1 soon... it seemed everywhere I looked and LT4 was the only motor in a corvette..heh.

What other differences are there between corvette and f-body lt1's besides the mains and accesory placement?

all vettes were 4 bolt.
all others 2 bolt.
if the motor has ever been replaced with a motor from GM, it will be a 4 bolt as well. all serviced long blocks WERE 4 bolts. were because GM discontinued the LT1 service motor a few months back.

The LT4 was only offered in the '96 model year of the vettes and in like 104 F-bodies. '92 thru '95 vettes had the regular LT1. They made the LT4 to sorta attract people who were going to wait for the C5 to buy now. Other than exhaust the vette and F-body LT1's received the same parts.

Yup indeed The vette accesories are the best to get as to avoid any notching. Either can be used though. The vette valve covers also looked a lot better and weren't the cruddy plain jane stamped ones.

They are popular around here but I agree with you that they don't look right on an F-body. I threw mine out!

could have gotten 70$ out of them things.

From what i understand 2 bolt is actualy better because a 2 bolt splayed is stronger than a stock 4 bolt. However i have been wrong before.

nah. you are right. but when you splay a 2 bolt, it actually becomes a 4 bolt. they run at an angle with the block, to grab more "meat"

I didn't go with the fuel rail covers for looks or because they say corvette. I just liked them because they hide the fuel rails and related crap. I do like the people who come up and say hey you got one of them corvette motors in your car. I say yep here's your sign!!!!
