416 port and runner size
what size intake and exhuast ports do 416 heads have also what size runners do they have. I am asking because I am looking at these heads on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2467861178 and the owner doesnt have those sizes listed and he hasnt emailed me back yet so I assume they are stock.

Anyone else care to give their opinion. The auction ends tomorrow and I am not real sure if they are worth the money so let me know what you think. Oh and vader what motor did you have those heads on and how did it run. Thanks guys.

Only negatives I see are lack of "real" porting, and press-in rocker studs.
The "buy it now" price would be around $380 with shipping. I was quoted $170 to ream out valve the seats for larger valves on my 396 heads. But, that includes both intake and exhaust, with hardened exhaust seats. Taking half of that and using Vader's $76, and about $70 for decent springs, plus about $130 for a valve job, that's about what they're asking w/o cores.
Your call.
(Oh, "high velocity" translates to "small ports".)

I got my last pair from a local machine shop. Someone had taken them in for work, then left them there, never to return. They were already cleaned and Magged for cracks, and had all the valves touched-up. I save d the 1.50" exhausts and cut for 1.94" intakes and 1.44" springs. Of course, they got screwed studs and were about six pounds lighter after porting (three each).
In order to correct for a factory deficiency (76cc heads and dished pistons) they ended up doing pretty well with the improved cam on this:

IROC,
Did you check these out?

If you are going to port yourself, these might be a good deal.

Alright thanks for the info, I didnt really think they were worth the money considering they arent worked over as much as I would like. Oh and I am not really looking to port them myself azvolfan due to lack of time. I really dont even no when I will have the time to put the new motor in either but thanks for posting those links. So would you guys say that a set of 492 or 041 camel hump heads are better than these. Just wondering because I have been looking at some that have been modified to handle .500 lift. Thanks again for your input guys.

No. The Old School "double hump" or "camel hump" casting mark heads are not any better, and may be more work than cleaning up the '416 castings.
First, you can't get the '461, '462, '491, or '492 ("Camel Hump") castings with a 58cc chamber volume. If your engine runs better with lower compression from 64cc chambers, that's O.K. then.
Second, the '461s have no accessory holes. Only the '186, '187, and '414 "Camel Hump" heads had accessory mounting holes, and those bring a premium price - even at junk yards. Vortecs or aftermarkets are better and cheaper.
Third, the '461 heads had only 160/62cc port volumes. The '461X heads have 172/64cc port volumes, whereas ported '416 castings have all the necessary mounting holes, snaller chambers, the same valve sizes, and 177/64cc port runners.
For the same price as used double humps that will probably require more money to make them even useful, you might be able to find some '128 aluminum heads from an '86-87 Corvette - Bigger valves and runners, aluminum, and 58cc chambers. If you need anything more than that, you need to look in the aftermarket.

Well I am actually looking at a set of 041 camel humps and mortec says they have the accessorie holes. These heads were rebuilt about 1000 miles ago and have had the springs uprgraded to .510 lift and have had a 3 angle valve job. A guy I know is selling them and I think he will probably let me have them for about $200 he just doesnt want them sitting around his shop anymore. I was going to have them milled a little so I can have about 9:5:1 compression and add screw in studs and just slap those puppies on. Super Chevy did one of there Danger mouse segmants on somehting close to my setup. They ran a 350 with 9:4:1 compression stock rebuilt 461 camel hump heads with upraged springs, the XE256H cam, weind 8004 intake, 1.5 rockers, headers, and a qjet and got 356 hp and 413 tq which is exactly where I want to be. The only difference in my setup would be that I am running a performer RPM intake, and holley 670 street avenger carb. So I will probably get those camel humps from my friend but I really dont want to jump the gun thats why I am asking you guys your opinion. Oh and thanks for the input Vader.

Alright another one of my friends wants those camel hump heads so i think I am going to let him have them. So I started looking again and I found these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2468981374
I dont want these because they are 2.02 and 1.6 valves and because they have 64 cc chambers. But all of the work they have done to them sounds like exactly what I want. Well it turns out the guy who built these heads runs a machine shop near me so I called him and he said he would assemble a set exactly like these but with 1.94 and 1.5 valves and 58cc chambers. So I will probably go with them. What do you guys think about these heads other than the valves and chambers.

In addition to the 1.94 intake, didn't one guy here also put a 1.60 exhaust valve in the 416 heads?
