What's the most horsepower from a 350...
What's the most horsepower you could get out of a 350 that would still have some street manners? I've seen builds for 500+ hp 350's but I figured they probably weren't streetable. I'm looking for something that'll run close to 11's and still be able to drive it on the street every once and a while.

500hp isnt unheard of out of a 350. with a set of AFR 195heads, and a rolloer 282 or 288 cam, that would get you pretty darn close and IMO would retain some street manners. car craft has done several build ups lately that have had insane power out a 350 espesically for what cam they put in it. the last one they put vortec heads with a 274xtreme cam and got 440hp. thats with all there little tricks, carb spacer, race gas and dyno tuning. they also built a 383 with vortec heads and a 282 roller cam and got a little over 500hp.

Hot Rod did a 560 horsepower 383. What I'm thinking of is a set of Sportsman II's or something with at least 2.02/1.60 valves and 200 cfm runners. But after that I don't know what kind of cam and intake combo would put me over 500 horsepower. I see a lot of the combos are running spacers and everything, and my ultimate goal is for the engine to sit under a Big Block Hood for a 3rd gen and run a 2.5" dual setup that exits before the rear wheels.

560hp on a 383!
i am guessing its carb ( i do not have much knowledge about it yet), anyways i want to build a 383 but with a miniram and have it supercharged....
Meaning i could be looking at 650hp+
Just curious, if anyways knows how much hot rod built that motor for? Cause first i just want the motor with the miniram and just that, then maybe a year after have it supercharged....

The exact total was $6,382.73 for that 383 stroker. The price will vary, they said you could save money buying a 850 cfm double pumper compared to the carb they used and that's assuming you can find a 350 from a junkyard for $48. That price includes all the machine shopping and all the parts. Along with part numbers and where they ordered it from.

Also made 522 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm and 560 hp was at 6,600 rpm. I think 560 is a little overkill. I'm looking for a 350 that will put a 3rd gen into the 11's N/A. I want to juice it then too. I figured I'd need around 500 hp for 11's. Is that about right?

i think 560 hp in an fbody will put you somewhere in the low 12's depending on your other parts. you might get high 11's when going full out w/ slicks ,4.10 rear, and air bags in the coils.you run N2O however thats a different story.
i think the 383 is the way to go. put in good lower end pieces and run 2 stages of N2O the second after 2nd gear and you'll be well into the 11s (or better) and in normal operation be totaly streetable

With my setup including my end of september mods I should be able to runs mid-low 12s. This is assuming i can get traction. I'll let you all know how i did at the end of the month.
