Not $8000. Seat is trashed, carpet looks like the tops either leak of this guy rustled cows and didn't bother taking off his boots. Car looks like it has 154,000 miles.

I paid $5000 for this FWIW it was in 2008.

89 350 iroc
82,000 miles (actual)

Re: What do you think this 85 z28 is worth?

Seems like a pretty clean car, I think 8,000 is a little high for it's condition though. The low miles are nice, I think someone could probably get it for 6k, cash. The interior components are all there and in good shape (it seems, from the limited pictures). the upholstery needs the typical work.

Dude, the interior is junk. Not dirty. For $8000... Or even $6000 I'd expect A LOT better. I think this seller is pipe dreaming.

Wow, clearly I was way off.

Also, just noticed that the weatherstripping is trashed, probably has some rust issues that are unseen.

agree, 8K way too much. Maybe in New York prices are higher, but in here Oregon, similar 3rd gens going for 3K-5k all day long & some have way better paint. Take your time so you don't overspend & have a mechanic you trust look it over as well if you're a novice. 8k can U a badazz 4th gen that will wet your seat if you want power, best wishes

I will say "worth" is a tough question tho... It's worth what someone is willing to pay.

My 89 (that I paid $5,000 for) was my old car I bought new and sold in 91. I wanted it back. Let's say it was in the condition this red Z28 was in AND $8000.... I would have bought it because it would have been worth it to ME. I got lucky and the guy gave me a gear deal. $5000 was a deal even without my attachment to the car. He didn't try to cash in on that. For that I was grateful to him! Worth is relative.

And as if now, the car has 89,000 miles. Lol. Spends A LOT of time sitting.

Re: What do you think this 85 z28 is worth?

I went and looked at it and ran the vin. The vin is clean and based on age now mileage is exempt but it did show 39000 back in 2009. There is no rust anywhere. The only rip was on the seat where you lean to get in an out of the car. The carpets did look stained but looks like it could be cleaned up. I was surprised though that everything works. Trunk popper, cruise, power everything which I'm surprised they had this in a Camaro in 85. Guy says he has a lot into most of it was the transmission. But underneath the car its flawless. Pictures might just not give it justice, its by far the best looking 3rd gen in the area. Just don't know about the price though, he doesn't want to budge based on how much he has into it.

Re: What do you think this 85 z28 is worth?

cars must be worth more up north? so his transmission was rebuilt. so what? it doesnt make it worth more money. when i buy a running car, i want the tranny to work. no a/c. his spark plug wires dont add to the value of the car. some headers,...big deal.
it seems like its in fair condition. nothing special. no way i'd pay his price. you could easily buy a nice corvette for that price.
its hard to put a price on third gens.

Why? This car is in much better shape than that Z28.

We've all told you based on what we see, the car is a $3000 car.

You want to tell is we are all wrong, fine. Buy the car. The guy is trying to screw people.

Let's look at the transmission.

We will use my car. I paid $5000 for it. 3000 miles later the tranny blew. I paid $2500 for it to get rebuilt. Is my car now worth $7500? NO. It's worth $5000. If I hadn't fixed the transmission, it would have been worth $2500 or less. Repairs and mods do not add value to a car. PERIOD. In older cars, mods actually reduce the value.

Do what you will. I think the car looks like a rag doll.

I think he was saying that 8-grand makes sense as an asking price on the copper firebird, not that he agrees with the price of the IROC. could be wrong, but yeah lol.

8 would still be too much for the firebird but it is a much nicer car than that IROC.

Yeah I wasn't saying the price is good im saying all the cars around me are priced like that, and that gold one was a v6. The one you posted is nice but its double the price, I'm just trying to see what 3rd gens are really worth before I buy another one.

Re: What do you think this 85 z28 is worth?

OE stripes missing, paint faded on the nose, wrong rims, "AC delete kit" (?), several mods, grubby engine bay, and an utter disaster of an interior. Not to be harsh but I'd give about $3,500. Or pass on it completely, given that I can get a near mint one with this mileage for about 7-8k.

New pics aren't much better than the original. Looks like he cleaned up the interior but still looks bad.
