89 5.7 TPI Cutting Out with MAF Plugged In
So I am confused and need some assistance with my 89 TPI setup.
I was driving home last week and the car had be driving well for a while now, months, and the motor just cut out. Coasting in neutral I turned the ignition, the starter cranked, motor sputtered then cut out. Pulled off the road, filled the tank with 93, and still the same thing. Once and a while the car would run with a rough idle but sometimes would cut out when I put it in gear and other time if I stepped on the gas. Intermittently, it would cut out, but it was more frequent. I have a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail, got air, fuel, and spark. So next I hooked up my laptop with tunerpro and disconnected the MAF, fired up the car and it run without cutting out. TPS sensor had the correct voltage.
Last mod made to the TPI setup was in Dec 2013 a 3 wire O2 sensor and I pulled the power from the fuel pump relay because I have a racetronix wiring kit. It was truly great upgrade over the single-wire.
Purchased a MAF from autozone it is the newer design with is a printed circuit board inside and not the Bosch hot-wire which I had in it. Car ran great when I installed it, until I drove it for 10 miles then the same thing.
I have not checked the burn relay yet. Looking for any tricks to solve this.
Looked online with no success,
1. Is there an easy way to test a MAF sensor?
2. Is there an easy way to test the harness?
3. Is the MAF root cause for my issue?
