Black Plastic Lug Cover Removal

My TA has the 16" high tech turbo wheels with the black plastic lug nut covers.

The owners manual states use the lug wrench to get them off. Right.

How do you get these damn things off to get to the lugs underneath?

I put a 18mm socket on them and tried twisting them off. All that accomplished was create a cracking sound.

I want to get black lugs and get rid of the plastic stuff. Thanks!!!

Mine are threaded. You can nearly unscrew them from the lug by hand.

Same here. I just use an extended socket and remove them by hand.
