False advertisements bye Black89z51

He stated the heads were freshly rebuilt, new guides , valve job. I paid $550 for the heads and I'm sure I have a few more hundred to put into them to be useable. No good recombination a here.
The guides are all knurled, the valves have way to much movement side to side . I'm committed to having them fixed no with zero assistance from the seller.

Re: False advertisements bye Black89z51

There's some juicy stuff going on here.

I've some questions about all this blame stuff.

Who was the original owner, who got the heads after that, who has them now...

Can I get a timeline?

So somebody's a liar, cheat, or everyone got cheated.

Either way, you can't blame one person, Tuned Performance. Because you don't know who exactly to blame, and I know there's no (reasonable) way to prove any of it.

Bud, you got burned, and you're gonna have to deal.

yes, from looking at the thread, you are talking to the wrong guy to get your money back ... how can you prove the guy you bought them from didn't run them for a year, then clean them up and sell them to you telling you they just sat on a shelf (i am not saying he did, but in almost a year you have no clue what happened, unless you were in his garage)

Re: False advertisements bye Black89z51

It is what is is, Joey is who I purchased them from, he is my friends brother. I have no reason not to trust him. I know for a fact he never installed them he ended up spinning a rod bearing and sold his bird. I recommended he purchase them at the time when I didnt have the funds and purchased them from him. Unfortunate on my part I couldn't pick them up and had to have my wife carry them out to the garage until just last week. I will never use a used part on a new engine without inspection and could see a few damaged guide seals. That's when I discovered the bad news. It has been 11 months but honestly who cares bottom line there unusable as is. There is zero recourse, the seller will not man up and help correct the situation. I will not sell them and take a loss or misrepresent so I'm stuck with putting a few hundred into them to make them right. $550 was a fair deal for a rebuilt set of 113 heads. no way I would want to pay more than that or I would go with used trick flows or edlebrocks. I have no idea if the seller knew the guide condition I'm not a mind reader. Bottom line is there jacked up and. I paid a premium price. I guess **** does roll down hill. If I make a mistake with a customer I always take care of the situation, I have lost money on deals, loaned ecms to members and have been ripped off being kind and helpful. just be careful what you buy and who you buy it from in the classifieds. tgo will not get involved and they do not care. Its not setup like ebay that's for sure.

Re: False advertisements bye Black89z51

I don't know if PayPal or some other credit card company was used, and if 11 months is too long to wait to file a claim, but that is the best course. You're right in that we aren't like eBay where we collect a decent amount of fees, have real names and addresses on file, and have the ability - such as PayPal and credit cards - to get directly involved to force any financial action. I don't know if this deal actually occurred on TGO or CorvetteForum as the parties involved are members of both communities with the ad being on both sites. There isn't a lot that we can do unless there is a case shown that a person is scamming the community. Even some of the best sellers on eBay will have a negative feedback as sometimes things don't go 100% right and/or it's not possible to please every single person. I think you wanted us to decide and force some sort of agreement between you two which, given the above in addition to the member not being a regular on here, is pretty hard to do realistically.

Maybe it's time we change the system? You obviously see the faults in it, and so do those who take advantage of them. I know I'd be willing to pay just a bit more to be secure in my purchases.

Re: False advertisements bye Black89z51

We still wouldn't have the ability to force any financial action like eBay and PayPal can as we are not a financial institution. TGO has had a supplemental classifieds section for over 13+ years. No matter what, there is going to be problems from time to time. I see faults with eBay's system, too, and it isn't perfect either. And any change would impact everyone.

Sorry, but we can't be another eBay. Our Classifieds are simply a 'use at your own risk' supplemental feature to our community. You'll find that to be common in other community-based websites similar to ours. If you want the eBay experience, you'll likely need to use eBay.

You still have a degree of protection using paypal. The original purchaser could have filed a claim had there been a problem but didnt. I understand maybe he didn't realize something was wrong but to expect something from the seller 11 months after fact is wishful thinking. I always inspect a part once recieved.

Realistically who would want to accept a return for something that they sold 11 months ago. Not knowing what's gone on with it. Also taking into account the guy you sold it to isn't the person trying to get a return.

I agree 100% with the time factor and second sale, told TP that in a pm. The thing is, I seem to see a rash of this going on here. More and more threads about being deceived or outright scammed. I just think the system sucks. You can't even count on the feedback someone has. Most people don't use it when selling or buying. It can be dummied up to look good, or false claims made to look bad. Ask me how I know.

Re: False advertisements bye Black89z51

Update on the crap heads, I found a very reputable machine shop and they tore down the heads. The retainers were beat up and some of the valves had Knicks below the retainer locks. The po had to be running over .500 lift pirod ! the estimate to instal the guides was $100, valve job $150 . But now since the inner springs are incorrect and to get the correct spring setup I have to buy another set of seals I already spent $30 on Inner springs est 44-$48. Have the new guides cut down. It was not stated and I'm well aware the stock heads can't take that much lift. Either the fool here is the seller or his machinest but it would have been plain as day there was a issue with the valve guides as wasted as they were. I was told my bill will be about $400 for these to be fixed.
The alternitive would be taller valves when they were rebuilt and corrected pushrod length. I have not had a income since December and had to sell my house. I will be moving out bye the 28th to a very rural area of Colorado. I still feel the seller should man up , but if your so quick to make a buck and don't care who is affected God bless. -Tuned

TP,, sorry you hit hard times and had to sell your house !! I hope you will be happy in the next one you move into... It's a shame that some people sell their shyt just to make a few bucks when they (truly) know it should be thrown in the trash...... Like the saying goes "what goes around comes around"......Only a matter of time before something similar happens to that guy.... Good luck with everything,,, better times will come !!!!

Thank you Melissa, this may actually be a blessing after all. We will almost me debt free and own our cabin and property outright. I'm going to be working on Tunedperformance.org after the move to keep myself occupied and every little bit of income for food , insurance and satellite internet will help. Sorry if I have offended anyone bye my ranting. It guess I may have a higher moral view than others.

No need to apologize. I'd be head hunting if this happened to me also. That's a big wad of coin to toss out for junk.
