Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
Just got a CNC for doing small batches and custom one off pieces.
What are some pieces that you wish were made for these cars but are not?
Post up your suggestions.

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
Front strut caps: headlight bezels: door handles- inside and out: shifter plate: pedal covers: hood hinges!(god, will someone come up with 3rd gen ones like Eddie Motorsports does for the 2nd gen???): interior door panel that holds the door handle, lock switch etc!
About all I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
I was going to do the shifter plate fory car. I can't do the door hinges because if I rember right they are spot welded onto the doors and bolted to the body. I never gave the strut caps a thought. I will look into what I can do I am currently looking for this to practice with.
Thanks

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
If you want a good product to spend time on getting right and one that is in demand, look at bonnet hinges, im guessing aluminum flat bar, 1/2" would do the base plate/arms, then maybe requiring 25mm for the upper plate, unless your keen to weld (and can do high quality tig welding) you could make the upper plates out of 1/2" as well, then machine the corners to suit the angle you require to match the bonnet which you can then connect the 2 together , clamp it up, and weld it.
Just an idea anyway, well one of many that you could do.

I think it would be cool to do a billet pedal set, but make sure that the gas pedal is spaced up about .25-.5 inches from stock so that we can properly heel-toe.You could probably do it with little machined standoff spacers that sandwich between the stock pedal and the billet pedal. A lot of people just use a bunch of washers but I dont like that idea that much.

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
Ok, Sorry for taking so long to respond. I have looked into the hood hinges it maybe possible however I am not sure how durable they would be. I will need to look more into them this weekend. I am currently not able to look at mine. I believe that the pedal set will not be to bad to do. I was even contemplating doing a set for my car.
Another thing that I was thinking was the front supports that connect the K-member to the front horns. Another thing that I was thinking was spacers for the struts for the guys that are using washers.
That is all I can think of right now.

This is the pedal setup I was referring to. Obviously it would be better out of aluminum. Probably too expensie for me to afford and too expensive for you to make, though.
You may want to make a few batches of RS and Z28 rocker/bumper emblems since the repros currently available are said to be pretty awful quality.

would a cheaper option for the pedal be to remake the rod that the assembly sits on to reposition it where you need it, rather than making a bulky spacer ?

Its not always about being lighter. Some want a Nicer , better quality part.
You want lighter & nicer bust out the check book and I can get them made out of Titanium.

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
I have one those billet hood hinge sets! Love them. Weight is pretty close to stock hinges.
Think the dude made two, the polished ones, and the brushed finished ones that are pictured on the car. Can't imagine these could be made cheap enough that most would be willing to pay for them.
I think making up a pedal set like the MBA ones posted is a great idea. I love my MBA pedals, and think others would appreciate the high quality feel.

Price is why I never went and did any hood hinges Like You said couldnt be done cheap enough to make it worth anyones times.
You do know the mustang bullet billet one fits our car with very minimal mods. Its been talked about on here before also.

I do not think I will end up doing the hinges. However I will more than likely be doing a set of the pedals.

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
Just check out what other sites charge for them. They tend to sell for around $100. More for more exotic surfaces on them. Make sure you can do it and be competitive.
The main thing is I want pedals that set the gas pedal MUCH farther forward than stock (never considered bending that rod..... but probably around .25 to .5 inches if I had to guess) and that the gas pedal is smooth while the brake and clutch pedal are not. Or I can put some skateboard grip tape on them or something. Not a big deal. As long as the gas pedal is smooth. (For heel-toe)
But I've had so much bad luck the last few months I cant afford to buy any car stuff right now. Between the fuel pump issues and problems with my daily and other crap that keeps coming up it will have to wait.

How about some under the hood stuff like radiator shroud, alternator cover, coolant and washer fluid tanks, you know, just dress up parts that are affordable for the average working man.

A gauge holder that mounts three, two inch gauges right below the center A/C vent. You could make a single or double gauge holder also but three would look semetric and about the same width as the vent. A custom overhead console could be interesting also.

What would it cost to have a custom bumper badge to replace the old "TUNED PORT INJECTION" with "TURBO 3800 SERIES II"

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
Depending on the price I would be down for two sets of hood hinges if they had sealed bearings for all the pivot points. I would be down for one set for sure though $500 would be a good deal for one set, a little less and I may be able to buy two

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
We finally had a first training session on the machine yesterday, ended up engraving both of our vices afterwords. I will be home more often come the middle of May and I plan on taking on the pedals and doing a center gauge setup for 2" gauges and also the 2 5/8" and some switches. I may also do a radio delete panel.

I'll add another vote for the strut caps. How about a round shift **** with either a firebird or camaro logo engraved on it?

Re: Billet parts that you wish were made for 3rd gens
Something fairly easy would be billet caps for everything under the hood. Oil stick, oil cap, radiator cap, water cap, windshield fluid cap etc. Make them covers with custom etching on top and color. I just spent $300 for a cap set with custom color and etching for my wife's 2012 Charger, but they don't offer anything for older Camaro's only new.

I would gladly pay for any stuff like this along with chrome covers for certain parts (like radiator, hood insets, washer/water fluid etc)
