15" IROC Wheels (late-style) at Ecology Yard in Adelanto
Browsed through some junkyards recently, and yesterday I found a thirdgen Camaro with all four 15" IROC wheels, and they were in very good shape.
Yes, 15". The later-style IROC wheel also came in 15", so these are legit.
I doubt many IROCs had 15" wheels, and in all the years I've been junkyarding I've never come across any, so I suspect these wheels are pretty rare. Most people probably wouldn't be looking for 15" wheels, but if you have an RS, Z28 or SC with standard 15" wheels, these 15" IROCs would be quite a nice upgrade, so I thought I'd post them up.
No center caps were apparently visible, so it's doubtful they were around, but I didn't dig through the car or look in the cars around the Camaro. It probably uses the same center cap as the 16" IROC wheel.
One wheel had some curb rash, a strip about 3" long. Other than that, all the wheels looked very good and clean.
Also found a Camaro with 16" '91-'92 Z28 wheels, only three, unfortunately. Strange how often I see only three wheels on a car. Where does that 4th wheel go?! These are in very good shape, but the centers have been painted black, so it would take a lot of refinishing to make them look good again.
There were also two 4thgen Camaros with a total of six very good 16" wheels(4 on one car, 2 the other), for those who like the 16" 4thgen Camaro wheels.
I suspect this Ecology yard in Adelanto might be closing soon. About 1/4 of the yard has been cleared, with few cars in reserve to stock it. I asked one of the employees about it, and he said he wasn't sure, but his body language said otherwise. It's sad to think we might be losing a junkyard. Let's hope not.

Here are pics of the other three 15" IROC wheels. You can see the curb rash in the last pic; not bad. Overall, I think this set of wheels is a very nice find for someone.

Re: 15" IROC Wheels (late-style) at Ecology Yard in Adelanto
Took a ride out to Adelanto yesterday, and these 15" IROC wheels are still there--because there's a GM locking lug nut on each wheel. So with a cordless impact gun and some lug nut removing sockets, a nut splitter, a variety of GM lug nut "keys," or whatever way you might have for removing them, then someone can get this very nice set of these difficult-to-find 15" IROC wheels. These are nice just as they are, no refinishing necessary, just cleaning, and they'll be like new-ish.
This weekend is 1/2 off, so the timing is perfect, and now you know what tools to take with you; it can't get any better. They're on a blue 1990 IROC near the far end of the yard.
The "skeletal remains" in this yard are definitely shrinking. There's more wide open space now than there was 6 weeks ago when I originally posted this. So it looks like we'll be losing a junkyard soon.

Re: 15" IROC Wheels (late-style) at Ecology Yard in Adelanto
It's official. This Ecology yard in Adelanto has closed. Went there today to get these IROC wheels, if they were still there, to try to make sure they found a good home on a 3rdgen. The place was an uninhabited wasteland, just a lot of skeletal remains, the gates were locked, and a big sign said "CLOSED."
Hopefully someone made the trip out there to get this very nice set of wheels during the last month. If not, then they will probably never be seen again. The land will probably be turned into a solar energy farm.
For people who haven't recently traveled the rural areas of the high deserts(Antelope Valley/Victor Valley), renewable energy farms have been springing up and spreading out like tumble weeds. Everyone probably knows Mojave's mountainous areas have been covered with wind energy farms for decades, and those have probably tripled in the last 5 years alone. But the new thing is solar. And hundreds-to-thousands of flat desert acreage are being covered with solar panels. There's probably not many uses for old junkyard land, which probably carries some degree of toxicity and would prevent any future residential use. So why not industrial usage, such as energy?
Good news is, also on the "CLOSED" sign was the address and phone number of a newly-acquired Ecology yard in Victorville, about 10 minutes southeast of this Adelanto yard, on Gas Line Road, off of Air Expressway, in the vicinity of the Victorville Airport. Checked it out. The attendant at the gate said Adelanto just closed yesterday, and he was transferred to this new yard in Victorville. The yard is ok, big, widespread and multi-tiered on a hillside. If anyone visits, prepare to do a lot of walking. I didn't see anything particularly interesting at this time. But it's nice to know it will be there down the road.

15" IROC Wheels (late-style) at Ecology Yard in Adelanto
Hey, I saw you were looking for a set of wheels. I have a set that you can have if you're interested. They're late style 16" iroc wheels with the double lines. I have a 4th gen rear and no longer have a need for these. I'm here in the high desert as well.

ThunderDong - Funny, you live close to my sister in Phelan.
Was looking for a pair of these 15" Irocs for slicks myself.

I lived over in California City and worked at the Rocket Site at Edwards AFB for 22 years the moved to Huntsville 5 years ago. I went to Ecology ALL the time just browsing. Too bad they're gone now.
