Saturday at 6. We line cars up and cruise to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. Usually about 30 cars or so.

Saturday is the main day of the show when the do the judging and everything. So if you can only make it one day that would be the best day.

Jordan, we had been using the large canopy that Charles brings. Im driving my car to the show this year and Ill bring my canopy just in case. As of right now I cant think of anything other than four buckets to use as canopy anchors

Ive seen postings of the dinner cruise.

Kevin!! anything to add?

I have an interesting idea. Let's have a contest or challange. If you all agree post up

How about all those that are in bring a rare or odd accessory specific for third gens. It can be original factory or aftermarket. We can make a display and a ballot box. All those that enter pay $5 entry and winner gets the pot.

Good idea? Anyone game?

I'll be driving a v6 thirdgen 900 miles to get there. Is that rare enough for the gathering?

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

Usually, at the place I currently work at, gives us a three day UNPAID Memorial Day Weekend. I take a day of Vacation before and after and enjoy.

This year our "aggresive schedule", so I have been told, has events happening on the Friday before and Tuesday following the Memorial Day Weekend. I questioned this and was told the only day that was gauranteed off was Monday! If you have vacation attached to the weekend, vacation is for the day that you requested - not Saturday or Sunday.

I enjoy what I do, but not liking where I do it so much now-a-days.
I do not have enough vacation time for the entire weekend.
This sucks!! I finally get a 3rd gen ready to go (no last minute stuff) and this!

My mother in law passed away yesterday. Trying to decide if it's still worth it to take the trip. A lot of things to consider right now. I wish it was closer so I could just go for a day, but I hate to drive two days to get there and only stay one.

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

If anyone has not booked their hotel room yet, the rooms that the show alotted have all sold out. You can still get a discounted room through expedia.com but you have to pay in advance. It's $84 a night, only $3 more than if you got a room through the show.

I'm booked for Saturday night, and have a spot for me and my daughters "GE" class car with the TGO group. We are really close to the show, so if anyone needs anything look me up. I'll be off Thurs-Mon.

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

I am do torn if I should enter the v6 category or the 88-92 modified my car is super clean, but I'll probably get my butt handed to me If I go up against a 5th gen that just rolled off the dealership lot.

I'm also not modified enough to be impressive enough against LS swaps, ect, and not original enough to enter that category.

Input?

I would go in the modified class, there will be less cars. There are usually some real nice 6 cyl cars there and in the past they have not broken them down by make and year so your competeing against all the 6 cyls.

Something with an LS swap would go in the super mod class. Then if you have a cage or body cuts you get put in pro mod. The modified class is for lightly modded cars, I think the stipulation is 3 mods in each area interior, exterior, engine etc..

MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER BY EARLY SATURDAY IF YOU WANT TO SHOW. I think the cut off is 10, but my work is now blocking the gathering site. You can register Thurs or Friday as well. You need to go inside the hotel and get your show stuff (name badges, shirts etc) and then go to the registration tent right outside the hotel and check in with Jim to get assigned a class and get the card to put in your car for the judges.

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

Yeah, I think it's ridiculous to have a v6 class, but have no breakdown for years.

Most of the LS cars around here are stock looking cars, until you pop the hood. I wasn't thinking of them as being super modified. Interesting

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

This gathering is at the top of my list for next year along with the thirdgen roundup thirdgen fest.

There are so many nice cars in this area....

Mark58 we need to get a big caravan from Texas together next year and drive to this one.... THat would be awesome. IT would be even better if we could somehow make the round up correlate with this one....??

Lol sorry to just step in to the middle of you guys thread and start making all these crazy suggestions

The drive would definitely be less painful....

My brother and I have been planning on a driving up to Chicago for quite awhile now and we feel like next year we will be ready....

But maybe we will go to this one instead.

Let us know how it goes. and take lots of pictures please.....

Sigh. Looks like the aftermath of both of wife's parents passing away in the last 10 weeks will keep me from making the trip. She has to stay in Houston for a while to take care of estate business, and if I leave for Atlanta, there's nobody to watch and take care of our kids.

Also, I drove the car to Austin and back today, and I was not happy about it's performance and MPG. Pretty pathetic on both counts.

Not happy at all, but I have to do the right thing and put my family's needs ahead of my own. My wife has been through hell and back lately, this is not the time to take a 5 day vacation just for the heck of it.

Well, I won't be able to come after all. My daughter's high school graduation is Saturday at 9a.m. We have family coming in Friday night since it's so early Sat. morning. I might be able to stop by after her party sat. evening, but that's about it. Really happy that's she's graduating, but sucks I can't bring my car this year.

I've been to many Gatherings. While it's great to bring your car, I've found that the most enjoyment I get from it is visiting with the people and friends I get to see there. This year being 6600 miles away keeps me from even dropping in. Congrats on your Graduate, hope you get a chance to visit.(And take picture to post )

Drop the car off on Friday and come part Sat night! Win win, congrats on the grad.

Looks like I'm going to be cleaning up until the last minute again. Couldn't get much done this weekend because of rain all weekend. Oh well, see you guys soon!

Looks like I'm going to be cleaning up until the last minute again. Couldn't get much done this weekend because of rain all weekend. Oh well, see you guys soon!
I wish I had time to Friday, or I would. So much to do with family coming in and getting ready for the party too.

On a side note, for anyone coming looking for parts. I have a brand new charcoal hardtop headliner, sun visor, and sail panel kit that I'm looking to sell. Would like $200 for everything. It's all brand new, never mounted. Can bring to show for pick up. Thx.

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

Jami, Hope you have a great time with your family! We missed a gathering once because of a wedding. Put the gathering on your list for next year!

We will be there noon Thursday. Betty's sons are picking her up around 2PM to take her to Valdosta for a baby shower for great-grand-baby number two. Betty's son will drop her off again in Atlanta on Sunday. I will be at the gathering all weekend until Monday morning.

I am bringing the canopy, table and some chairs. I will bring two large American Flags and the lighted American Flag windsocks. Sorry, I have not ordered a banner.

I have seen the doctors, have undergone an MRI, and have a bone scan in the AM. We have a treatment plan in place. My cancer, although aggressive has not spread outside of my prostate. Although a little stressed out, physically I feel very good. The cancer has not grown to the point where it is large enough to cause symptoms or make me sick. I will have 7-10 months of chemotherapy, and four weeks of radiation. My first chemotherapy treatment is on Tuesday the 27th. Radiation starts at the end of July. So this weekend I am going to forget about all of this life stuff and focus on having a good time!

Y'all have a safe and uneventful trip! See you there.

Charles

Great news Charles! Let us know if you guys are missing anything, or need me to bring some stuff down. I will probably stop by tomorrow to drop off the directions to Joe's so they can have them at the sign in table. But I will be off the next couple days, probably just cleaning.

Re: 2014 F-Body Gathering G-18

Curious if any of you at the show on still checking this forum. Found out about it just now, little late I know, but would love to stop by and meet some fellow TGOs. I have to work Saturday morning, but will try and stop by, since it's on the way home. Will I be able to find you guys at the show?

We should be on the bottom side of the top row, just a little bit after you first come in. There should be about a dozen or so thirdgens and a big canopy.
