Re: My new $300 86 Iroc-z28
Been a busy weekend steering column in, new ball joints, fuel pump with lines installed, new rear in, lca's bolted in, heater hose mod on rear coils, front coils cut one complete coil, a pillar done, nitrous press and afr ready to be wired up. Next steering linkage and brakes/ebrake. Btw having access to a rollback, lift, and tranny jack is very nice

Alright moving on paint is getting delayed since I found a gfx for the front and needs a bit of work so going to wait till thats done then send it. Also gauges wired up. Oh and this is how the covers turned out really happy with it and figured out something pretty cool for the pcv hose system. Just bought a 411 ecu and a bcm with matching key so my security light will go away that is all.
Also heres my buddys project that ive been working on

Re: My new $300 86 Iroc-z28
Front brakes/steering is completely brand new need to tighten up the bolts and throw the cotter pins in finish cleaning/undercoat the trans tunnel set the front on the ground then move to the rear brakes then onto pulling the interior to cut a hole in the firewall for the hvac box anyways some progress pics
By the way in the third pic in case anyone wants to know what 2.5 tint looks like theres an example will wait till the car on the ground before I sit in it and decide if its to dark for me

Not much has gotten done lately been to busy with work and complications with wife being pregnant but got some stuff done on the car this week pulled the dash back out so I can cut the hole in the firewall for the ac system also figured why my turn signals werent working. Thanks to a coworker I got the vats for the bcm bypassed hes going to school for electrical engineering and did his like this two years ago whats cool is I can still unplug the connector if say I ever have to store it, works as a kill switch plus by using the connector I dont have to pull the key in and out causing wear on the contacts on the pellet.

Re: My new $300 86 Iroc-z28
Alright havent had an update in awhile first finally getting back to the brakes rears have been completely replaced
and my ebrake now works after 8 hours of fighting with the cables had to use 92z28 ones, I just need to run the brake lines from the calipers to the porportioning valve then put the new brake hose's on the front then bleed the system and ill finally have brakes for the first time since I bought it. Also have decided I want my panels carpeted
couldnt resist taking a look at the exhaust I bought can't wait to hear that cammed 5.3 through it full 2.5 with 3in tips.
Firewall is almost cut out enough for the hvac box then the dash can go back in for the last time sucks I had to cut into the firewall after painting it not to long ago but itll be worth it on those hot days
have a new radiator for it while I had the car in the air I undercoated the trans tunnel. The motor has the fbody oil pan installed need to get the outside cleaned up and spray it btw what is this for?

You should be able to cap the oil cooling lines off, unless you want to buy the radiator. I am just going to cap mine since I wont be idling it all day long like you would a 2500 work truck.

Damon it man! Your really moving on this build, it is kewl to see how you're putting it all together. Never crossed my mind to put 4th gen interior in my third gen... how heavy are the seats, compared to 3rd gen's?

When its all done, do think it would've been cheaper to buy a 4th gen? Don't get me wrong it's kewl, but about the only 3rd gen stuff left will be the body.

Thinking about a Borla. I want a more wide open sound. The Magnaflow sounds decent but it's just too mild for me (who knows, maybe I've got a bad one).
Then again, I'm building a 6.0 LSx right now, so it's not like it'll sound the same down the road either way.
What cam and heads are you going with?

That's about what I paid used for mine. You did pretty good there. (I actually bought mine from Justin with the red/gold Z28)

Cam bout as big as I can go heads second best flowing and a little nitrous..... but should be around 550 to the rear 315s
Id go with 817 heads with a ms3 or slightly bigger cam and nitrous for a 6.0

Well I have to agree with the power # at least. I am looking to make 6-650@ the crank of my n/a sbc 409. That should put me at 450+ to the ground, not bad for a backup engine!
Once I get her moving again I can concentrate on the procharged iron eagle. .... that is a whole nother animal :-)

Double dins done installed also finally have the correct transmission pretty sure it needs rebuilt and needs the correct tailhousing but i picked it up for $200. Also drivers window is rewired with new relays and 10/14 gauge wire and for what i believe to be the factory motor and less than par greased tracks its almost as fast as my 08 maxima which is just wow im not sure if i want to put in a new motor I plan to grease everything up though. Taillights now have leds in them and there alot brighter at night

Havent updated in forever brakes are done got a shifter I finally like looks fairly factory to. Bought a trans rebuild kit and shift kit since im pretty sure 3-4 clutches are burnt out according to the guy i bought it from, also got a torque converter ls7 lifters and ls2 trays came, scored a brand new fender for $60 getting really close to being done just need pushrods/rockers/head studs/headers/windshield and have chad at the shop rebuild the trans then run fuel lines interiors back together for the last time the car wont be finished but will run and i can at least enjoy it while i finish the little odd and ends.

Funny how things work for me. I think of doing a few things to my car and come here to look up a few things and I come across your build. I have to say most of what you are doing I had ideas of doing. I love what you got going so far with the interior. I am curious to how you are molding the plastic parts together.
I just got a 97 formula that I will be using for a donor and hope to do a lot of what you have done, with my own little twists.
Keep up the good work.

you've been caught, that's my old snorkel! sold it to a kid south of kc. notice the white line in the top half where my hood wasn't adjusted properly the first time i shut it!
keep at it, a deadline normally helps and makes you plan your build time better. also, white cars are the fastest
