9 bolt abuse

I have been looking up how much they can take but its all on stock stuff. If I put all new stuff and 3.70 gears, cover, deep prayer, and maybe some axles. Do u think it will live 11.30s, 1.50s, stock t56 spec 4 clutch, stock 3rd gen 1le drive shaft, 3500 with me ls powered. I plan on shooting 200 out the back door.

It'll break. Or not. Maybe. First time? Last time? So many factors. What do your STIG powers say?

Re: 9 bolt abuse

They're stronger than 10-bolts but if you consistently get that car to hook up then the weakest link will be the first thing to go (i.e. the rear end).

It may last a while, it may last one pass, there isn't really a for sure formula about it.

Re: 9 bolt abuse

I would invest as little money as possible into it. Gears and done. It may last a while, but I definitely wouldnt put a bunch of liquid assets into it and turn them into steel assets that are prone to grenading.

Also, these guys are wrong, the 9 bolt wont be the first thing to break, the 1LE driveshaft is. The 9-bolt will break after that, though.

Re: 9 bolt abuse

I can get nib 9bolt rebuild kit with motive 3.73 gears for 250 shipped. Cheaper than 2500 on a 9". Its just borrowed time. I will just run nitto invo 285 30 19. My 60 foot wont be nothing like that.

Re: 9 bolt abuse

I put over 500RWT on one for over a year and then it started making noise so I went to a ford 9. They are the strongest factory rear but it is out of its league when serious mods are completed. It will always worry you when you are out of town and playing hard.
