Re: Hawks door panels WTF?

Hey I was looking at those exact door panels as well. One question about the rough edge and uneven angled lines - Do they get covered up by the door sill and arm rest?
The top would get covered up for sure but if the armrest doesn't cover the 1 inch difference (from the first line to the last), then that's really bad.

Re: Hawks door panels WTF?

WOW, i would have been happier without the lines sewn in at all, just a flat panel would have looked a lot better

the top of the arm rest may cover the uneven lines, but it still looks nothing like the original

They said I could still send them back and get in store credit which is cool but after I pay to ship them back then they knock off the 25% restocking fee I might see $100

Hawk's does NOT manufacture them. They just list the panels like all the other vendors. I got panels from Classic, and while very nice, they weren't factory styled, and I sent them back as well.

Exactly. I have seen this on GTO and older Pontiac sites. The quality of some venders/suppliers/companies products are not good.

Maybe have a talk with Legendary interiors.

I have the same panels in my Iroc. They really aren't that bad when installed. It's not like that factory design is straight out of a Benz either.

Hawks(classic, ecklers, whoever you prefer to order from) should instantly see how terrible these look and refuse to sell a crap product to their customers

they honestly look good, until it gets to the diagonal lines, it ruins the entire panel

Re: Hawks door panels WTF?

Hi Guys,
I hope everyone understands these are a AFTERMARKET door panel not original GM ,to be honest for the most part you cannot even get the original material anymore! The panels above recieved are EXACTLY like the picture on our website, while not original they are just as pictured , I do understand wanting original panels but in most cases due to manufacturing and material to do exact original put the parts in a totally different price point as well and then there will be the complaints on that end too!!
We have actually looked into reproduction 98-02 TA door panels as well but cost prohibit production simple as that, the door panels above are not a cheap made piece and they are just as original as far material the pattern and press is different as that is just not a option on that panel with the manufacture at this time. Please understand we want our customers to be happy with the product but we do have pictures on the website that accurately show what the actual product you get will look like, As always always feel free to email me direct at bruce@hawksthirdgenparts.com
Thanks,
Bruce Hawkins

Then take better pictures of them so people know that they are not even close to looking original. That will save them the hassle of trying to return them because they thought they looked better then they are.

Hi,
The pic on the site is the SAME EXACT door panel just a different color , it is hard to have a example of every color but I will do my best to put a updated picture of the door panels in question on the site. My point was these are a good aftermarket product but not NOS !! but they are not advertised as such either , we apologize for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Bruce Hawkins

Without zooming in the actual picture on the site, by taking a quick glance they look very similiar to oem.

Re: Hawks door panels WTF?

These panels would look a LOT better without the awful accent stitching. If I had to choose between that awful crooked stitching and just a panel that's plain... the plain panel I'd suck it up and actually put it in the car... Might even look cleaner in some ways.

You are specifically stating on your website that the product is designed & manufactured to OEM specifications. That should mean it should match the original. If it doesn't then you better have a large clear picture. That beige picture you have is not a very good example of showing the detail on the door panel.

Hi,
Not trying to start a pee contest but it says that so customers know they will fit just as Original and they are made as original just not original stamp or material but by the pic you can see the example! I will work on a better pic no problem is there a color you think would show it best ?? there are always technicalities in manufacturing , we try to cover all our bases and sometimes fall short on what a customer THINKS should be there. It is always easier on the other side of the fence. I do however welcome respectful criticism when it helps the customer and making there decision! Will work on the pic. sorry again for the trouble!
