Looks to be an older 4-71. Came on 6v92 diesels and such. OK for a small displacement application. 6-71/8-71 blowers are more "common".

As a test, try turning on your lights first, then try starting. If they dim greatly or die altogether with a loss of power from then on, I'd wager you have a bad connection on the positive side.

I've always thought of it as "EST" Electronic Spark Timing aka set timing wire and the "ESC" as Electronic Spark Control which is the knock sensor circuit?

Had a 1986 Z28 LG4 and 1991 Z28 L98 both w/ the 700R4 and both stock.
The '86 with 2.73 and 245/50/16 tires went about 120MPH in 3rd gear at 4400RPM. 4th OD would only take about 1/2 throttle...
