The slip yoke has been removed. Neither end has anything attached and both ends look identical. Just one end is heavier than the other and we’re not sure which mounts to tranny vs diff. Anyone know...

88 IROC 305 5 speed. My son removed the drive shaft on Xena (our 88) and can’t remember whether the heavy end of the driveshaft is front or back. We just want to get it right. Anyone know? Thanks

Yea, it's a MAF. I changed all the injectors a couple of years ago with bosch, but doesn't mean I still dont have one acting up. I guess the only way to know for sure is to take them out and turn...

Only got one tested before my meter lead broke, but it tested low 15.2. It's my plan to retest all tomorrow after getting in all heated up. Your suggesting they should all read 16 or high 15 right? ...

Yea, it really sucks trying to pass current emissions. The car does smell a bit gassy and I'd like to get that fixed and get it on the road by passing emissions. It is a bit baffling that it failed...

This whole engine checks out almost perfectly using my Datamaster software, my trusty meter, timing light, pressure testing equipment, etc... I'm probably not an expert, but everything checks outs. ...

No. it was pretty hot when I got to Midas. I've never replaced it. I suspect it's pretty old. Seems there should be a temp test before and after cat to really determine good or bad, but I'm not...

I'll warm the car up here shortly, but the ect measures 33ohms cold (not Running) I just disconnected it and measured across terminals. Colorado's like 35F so it's pretty cold. Your suggesting that...

est was disconnected. No leaks are detected at the fuel pump regulator that I can see. Fuel pressure holds after shut down so I'm assuming no leaks as well. Datamaster results show ect starting at...

Also,

1)tested for vacuum leaks and found none so far.
2)It also seem to go from Open Loop to Closed just fine (according to Datamaster).
3) Gas cap replaced a while ago.

This was not an easy problem to solve. It did take a handheld scanner while driving, but what solved the problem was removing the metal plate under the electronic control module in the distributor...

It is common for these to leak/crack out of the bottom. I agree with campin1983 that somethings broke somewhere. Inspect it real good because it dosen't take much of a crack to leak. Good luck.

Its the fuel vapor canister. beleive fuel vapors from the gas tank our collected here and then drawn into the carb or fuel injection system to be burned off.

This is a stock 1988 305 TPI so honestly I'm not sure whether the 86 is fully compatible. Mines an F series 3rd Gen. Do you know what the differences are between the years?

Thanks. I did disconnect the EGR soleinoid and it doesn't seem to make any difference it how it runs. Not exactly sure what that means, but I'll reconnect and try to see if I can verify the EGR...
