Re: 1986 Firebird Base 305 Manual with T-Tops

I wonder if that dual snorkle air cleaner is original to the car. That may be from a H.O. 305. Whats the 8th digit of the VIN?

Re: L03 + N10 = knock sensor code?

Well it's fixed. Actually figured it out a couple weeks ago but wanted to drive it awhile to be sure.

At some point I had taken the custom PROM out of the car and put the stock one back in. Don't...

Re: L03 + N10 = knock sensor code?

Built it myself so I'm not into it for much. The crush bend was there before, (wow it looks bad in that picture) not part of the 'new' system. The TPI ignition module adds 2 degrees of timing around...

Re: Pushing and tweaking the LO3

I have L98 manifolds and Y-pipe on mine along with a LT1 cam ('92 Vette) and chip to match. Pulled a full second off my 1/4 mile time, a shot on the dark says 200hp. I'd skip the L98 cam and get on...

Re: Borg warner iron calipers, no clamp?

I adjusted mine by removing the e-brake lever and turning the shaft. Be careful, the shaft must be held "out" or it will just thread into the caliper.

Re: 1990 camaro rs mpg (surprised)

Steady highway speeds with good aero and tall gears = good mpg. I got 28 with my '87 Firebird 305 carb 2.73 700R4. Current '91 TBI with 5speed and 3.23 gets 25mpg hi-way with the A/C blowing.

Re: 300 hp 305 build!

If you're you're going to go LS power in the future, don't spend your time/money on the 350 in the meantime. Just keep with the 305 (stock) until you're ready for the LS. You'll save time and money.

Re: Home brew road racer

Impressive work!

As far as the trans is concerned, what about a 4-speed manual? A T-10 or Muncie will way cheaper than a 5 or 6 speed. You don't really need O/D on a race course anyhow.
