Re: Weird optioned 86 IROC-Z for sale near me

Cool, that's good to know, questioning compnine seems common, but everything I've checked there has been spot on with the car in front of me, SPID, or build sheet. I'd love to see that pic!

Re: Weird optioned 86 IROC-Z for sale near me

Compnine's database just has the Canadian A4Q Players cars. There were allegedly 10 or 11 more 86 L69s that weren't race cars. About 10 years ago I had a contact I had within GM try to find out...

If compnine is to be believed, 7 86 L69s were code 51 yellow.

Just now seeing this, as an old school Q-jet guy and 82 LG4 owner of 27 years, I've got some thoughts. First the shockingly low boiling point of 10% ethanol gas cannot be over estimated in a carb'd...

Re: 33 Years Ago Today to the minute At Norwood!

I've always wondered how accurate the build date on a car's build sheet is- Is it when the floor pan is first stamped? When the car is actually complete? Or just a general hoped for scheduling thing?

Re: Super bad original radiator support welds

The highest VIN I've seen on an Van Nuys 82 was CL216xxx. Not very scientific, I think they quit building them in the last week of Sept. There may be someone out there with more accurate info.

No problem! I've been looking at 82 VINs the whole time, they really ramped up production as the year went along, by late 82 they were really cranking them out. I'm sure those welds and hitting them...

Re: Super bad original radiator support welds

Not any particular insight, I'll drop by my storage unit and have a look at my 82s core support. It's an 05A Van Nuys car, so a little earlier than yours. I'll take a couple of pics and share them.

Re: Is there any way to find out where my car was sold when new?

On my 82, the build sheet was in the webbing of the driver's seat bottom. I had to take the seat out to get it, no big deal on these cars. It's a first week of May Van Nuys car.

Thanks! it's a very original, but typical 82 with a really nice paint job I did about 15 years ago. Still has the original, somewhat worn interior, etc. Runs great, tho!

Re: 1982 Pace Car is Home

Not that I'm a pace car guru, but as I recall the actual pace cars had all-aluminum cross-fire 350s that had about 250HP.
