Re: First Days For 1982 Production

Probably safe to say production began on the same day for both, just a matter of nailing down what shift produced which car. It is said in the book the first ones produced were sent to the various GM...

Re: First Days For 1982 Production

From Michael Lamm's book, "Camaro, The Third Generation", Van Nuys production began on October 12, 1981 and Norwood production started on October 26th.

Re: '82 CFI Pace Car Resto

I concur, the lighter blue on the left matches up with my car's original paint and striping. It makes sense it is the 1981 blue since the pace cars were some of the first Z28s off the assembly line -...

Re: '82 CFI Pace Car Resto

I had a pint can mixed for me at my local PPG outlet back in the 1980s. They really had to dig for it, this was the pre-computer age, so a number of reference books were pored thru before they found...

Re: '82 CFI Pace Car Resto

I am watching your work on your restoration with great interest, I will be undertaking a lesser restoration of my pace car in the near future - I have owned mine since new and it has fewer issues....

Re: Crossfire roll call!

No, mine did not come with the rear wiper option, the power antenna or the 4-wheel disc brakes - I don't recollect offhand if a power driver's seat was available then. I think it had everything else...

Re: Crossfire roll call!

I would probably keep it mild - I think the aluminum 350 used in the '82 race was around 250 horsepower, but they made mods to the car to prevent other issues from occurring due to the increased...

Re: Crossfire roll call!

Thanks, KITT1983. I'm sure I'm looking at all kinds of issues in this area as the car was stored with a full tank of fuel in the expectation it wasn't going to be parked that long. Job relocation and...

Re: Crossfire roll call!

I have a 1982 Indy Pace Car with the Crossfire engine, she has about 72K miles on her and I bought it new the Friday before the Indy 500. It was in storage for years and I am now looking at getting...
