With it afterfiring out of the exhaust, your timing has got to be off. Look at this way, the exhaust valve is open when the plug is firing. I would check to make sure the dist is in correctly.

Yea it does, I just replaced my headlight bar and the front bumper cover as well. It does support the front bumper cover in the center section. All I can say is I wouldn't do it.

Sounds like an oil pressure issue. Rod bearings may be worn enough to cause the brief knock until your oil pressure builds up. You could try a heavier oil. But it's probably nothing to freak out...

I ended up priming mine while it was on the engine stand just in case I had any leaks. Used an old distributor, 1/2 drill and poured oil on the rockers prior to start up.
