You should get some casting numbers. The LB9 TPI 5.0 is listed in every RPO list (including "The Third Gen RPO Decoder" offered here at TGO) as an HO motor. So, those heads would fit your TBI....

Like Skelitor said, you have to weigh the pros and cons. If the guy is willing to have you pick it up at his house, then he probably isn't out to rip you off. I'd put that in the pro column.

I'm sorry if this comes off as condescending...but, you are making a rookie mistake. You are breaking rule #1 Don't throw money at a problem. I would rather have a stock 305 with 170,000 miles on it...

He invested $4000 into rebuilding a 305 long block. There's "too much to list." And he couldn't even put a coat of paint on the water pump. "price is not negotiable!" ...ah...ok... He hasn't got one...

882s are 76cc heads. I've never heard of them being used on 305s and they are not centerbolt valve covers. Yeah, the smog police might like the fact that newer heads are used but the L98 heads are...

on the gmpp tbi vortec intake the egr is plumbed into the exhaust manifold from the intake right up front. any smog tech familiar with chevy engines would spot that it doesn't belong on a passenger...

In another thread the original poster is looking at buying a carb intake. Any swap with a carb would have to come out of a 1984 and up passenger car. that would leave a carbed 350 from 1984 to 1987....

That's not a small block Chevy. Its a Pontiac or Olds V8. Not a "bolt in" swap. If its a Pontiac, there's a sticky up there that explains whats involved. You'll have to determine if you can finish it.

I've read on these boards that there is not room inside the t5 bellhousing for a 168 tooth 14" flywheel. So, your flywheel must be a 153 tooth 12.75". Many blocks from the 70s that were installed...
