scan for codes first, i would be thinking along the lines of a vacuum leak or issue with your IAC idle air control valve

Yes use Egr solenoid pink/blk wire. Thats the best place and most accessible area for doing this.

I would swap it out to a computer compatible cam with a Lobe seperation angle of at least 112 or higher and a little bit less duration, Keep it under 220.

look for a cam with a LSA of at least 113 or higher if you want it to run. otherwise it may not even idle and will be very hard for someone to even tune a chip for!

This issue is on the intake side with these cars. Ditch the TPI intake manifold for a Holley Stealth Ram.

Check the usual things first. Timing, fuel pressure. Fuel pressure is checked with a gauge hooked up to the rail, the car idling, the vacuum hose disconnected from the regulator and plugged off. Look...

sounds like a timing issue for sure. I recommend advancing the distributor and drive it and listen for knocks, then back it off until the knocking stops. Reason is , the balancers slip a lot on these...

put the Vortec heads on the tpi motor, or put the tpi stuff on the vortec motor, either way you need the special tpi lower base manifold made by scoggin dickey to use tpi with vortec heads.

I actually ordered from Custom Chips and I am happy with my chip, the car accelerates faster and runs smoother . It does what it says! Yes I had to wait 2 weeks for it and that part I was not happy...

mine did that but it was the wire to the secondary fan that got melted onto the exhaust manifold. So basically the wire was grounded all the time and thats how the fan comes on anyway. lol
