Re: Getting code 24 (VSS malfunction) please help

Are you sure? I read the 85 and older Firebirds (with the cable driven speedo) had the buffer and sensor as one unit. I'll check for a sensor on my tranny.

Question about aftermarket seats

I'm planning on a rather long road trip with my T/A, but my seats are over 30 years old and extremely flat and hard at this point.

I'd like to pick up a pair of aftermarket Recaros, an LS or LX...

Re: Best Third Gen knowledgeable shops in SoCal

Don also sells the best CA legal exhaust, headers and pipes, money can buy for our cars. Good luck, maybe I'll see you around his shop.

Re: Best Third Gen knowledgeable shops in SoCal

Not at all. Don will provide the engine as well. He is a one man operation so you'll have to be patient, but he charges peanuts. I went from a carbed 305 and it took him several weeks, IIRC. Totally...

Re: Best Third Gen knowledgeable shops in SoCal

I did. I've been going to Dyno Don in Anaheim. He won't do LT or LS1 swaps as far as I know, but he did do an L98 TPI swap for me.

Re: 91 L98 starts, surges a few times, dies.

Well it's been towed to a shop, so I won't be able to check today. Whether some Joe schmo shop is going to be able to figure it out, I don't know. Some shops can't figure out "older" cars. I will...

91 L98 starts, surges a few times, dies.

If I try to keep the engine running with the gas pedal, it will keep surging, tries really hard to stall when the RPM crashes down.

Here is a video of what happens:

Question for anyone familiar with SLP cold air intake

What do you do about your upper coolant hose? The driver's side intake tube clearly interferes with it. Is there one that people usually replace it with? What's the go-to solution? I found one...

Re: Speedometer cable woes...

The plastic square tip is on the speedometer side. I didn't touch that end. On the tranny side, it definitely didn't have any type of tip on it, it was just sort of bullet shaped. And like I said, it...

Speedometer cable woes...

My speedo cable was making the buzzing/grinding/whatever sound that I'm sure you guys are all familiar with. I had the same issue in my 80 TA, 75 Firebird and 82 GMC pickup. So I bought a brand new...

Tried replacing gauge cluster bulbs with LEDs and weird things started to happen

I pulled the cluster because I had some burnt out bulbs, decided to go LED while I was back there. I made VERY sure to put the bulbs and sockets back in the exact position they were originally in. I...

Yeah that was the one guys, bezel came right off. Neither the dash pad or the center console need to be touched. Thanks again!

Re: Can't figure out how to remove gauge bezel

I definitely got the leftmost one and the one behind your air freshener, and the rightmost one, and every hole shown there. I must be missing something. Do I have to completely remove the dash top as...

Re: Can't figure out how to remove gauge bezel

I thought that too, but looking here

it looks like that panel is part of the bezel. I could be wrong...

I'm actually working on replacing my bulbs. The bulbs you're looking for are size 194. That should cover all the bulbs in the instrument cluster.

Best Third Gen knowledgeable shops in SoCal

My LG4 in my 85 might just be done, guys. I don't have a ton of money, so an LS swap is probably out, but an LT1/T56 swap might work for me. Are there any shops in Socal, preferably OC, that have...

Need help with California emissions LG4 performance parts

Hi everyone, I've joined your ranks. I just purchased an 85 Trans Am with an LG4 5spd.

This isn't my first T/A, although it is my first 3rd gen. Now I know this is a relatively weak motor, which...
