Did you replace the flex hoses at the rear? If not these tend to collapse internally with age. They will allow fluid out but not enough for brakes to function properly.

Put 1 lug nut loosely on each rim and whack the tire portion with the back of your heel; while laying on the ground. The lug nut is on so the tire doesn't fly off

Just a stab in the dark but maybe 02 sensor? Also, instead of carb cleaner an unlit propane torch is also good for checking leaks; it will also cause idle to surge.

Id definitely replace flex line as they are almost 25 years old, I'd bet money that is the problem. I bled my brakes on the fiat several times. I assumed it was fine as fluid was coming out. Not so....

Hydraulic flex hoses collapsed on the inside, had this same issue with an old fiat. If you're changing them do it all around. I'm assuming drums brakes also have flex lines at some point. Mine...

Just a shot in the dark but I would try disconnecting the negative cable on the battery for 30 seconds and reconnecting? Worth a shot it certainly can't hurt.
