I had the same problem on my 88 TA. It was the switch, the switch gets exposed to a lot of abuse over the years which the power motors rarely get.

Sounds good. Be careful when you go 12" you're going to have to go fairly deep in order to get the area on top for the 12" sub face to screw to.

Was very easy to make. I only used a 4x4 sheet of 3/4 MDF. I wasn't sure how it would sound only being a 10" but I'm more than happy with it as I wasn't looking to rattle my car apart.
