Re: Vortec vs LS1

I agree with with going the LS route... it will cost a bit more up front, maybe a little maybe lots, depending on the route you take, but it will be a much better choice in the end... more power,...

Re: will my pump support my engine?

Shoud probably be ok, as I think the 350 and 454 used the same pump, but why not hook up a fuel pressure guage and observe while driving, just to see?

Plug the hole behind the carb base. You won't need it.
Drill and tap one of the injector bosses at the bottom of an intake runner (I used #8 I think)...

Re: hydro flat tapped vs hydro roller

The ONLY disadvantage of the roller setup is the cost... it does cost quite a bit more if you're retrofitting.

The roller will have better longevity, power, drivebility, durability in the long...

Re: Aluminum?

I just think its pointless to buy a Gen 1 aluminum block, because the LSx engines already have aluminum blocks (LS1, LS6, LS2, some others as well) and are a MUCH better engine than the Gen 1 engine....

Re: Camshaft for a camaro

Weight savings and 'cool factor' are the only real benefit of an aluminum block over iron. IMO, its not worth an extra 4k.

Re: 305 HO head fit in on my 91 305tbi???

Re: Help with Engine

Removing EGR will not improve power or performance in any way. All it will do is increase emissions, make the engine run slightly warmer, and reduce fuel economy. You won't gain anything.

Re: SEND GOOD FUEL

Its a TPI pump, which puts out far more fuel pressure than a carb 'helper' pump or a TBI pump. I would take out the TPI pump and use either a basic pick-up setup, or the right helper pump.

If the rotating assembly was seized up, you could also have a valve seized open and interfering with a piston. I'd say its likely just a tight spot due to being locked up though.
