Re: rear coilover kit

There's always weight jacks, basically the same function as coil overs and fit in the stock location.

Re: Lowering a 6cyl car. Will lowering springs work?

Drop spindles would work the same for 8 or 6 cylinder cars, but its my understanding that there are durability issues with the drop spindles on the market for our cars. I don't think there are...

Re: QA1 vs Viking shox for the rear end?

Roostmeyer, what's the specs on the rest of your suspention setup? 350 lbs/in seems like a LOT of rear spring. Are they in the stock location?

I don't mean to sound like I'm questioning if you...

Re: QA1 vs Viking shox for the rear end?

The sport lines are an 80-137 lbs/in progressive rear spring. That's not much stiffer, if at all, than stock. I run 200 lbs/in rear springs with the third gen Koni yellows and can say there is plenty...

Re: 1986 Z28 suspension rebuild

Changing to a new wonder bar won't make a difference, and changing to the same size rear sway bar won't make a difference. Changing just the rear size will effect the balance of your car.

Re: Weight in the trunk for traction, how do third gens respond?

300 lbs is a lot. Adding weight would be more of a bandaid fix than actually solving your problem. What brand tires are you running?

Re: Aotocross with an automatic??

I autocross a V6 with an auto as well. I've never felt the need to manually shift between 1st and 2nd, just leave it in 2nd and be done with it. It will downshift by itself on slower corners when you...

Re: How to set up my rear suspension

That's because a bigger front bar in relation to the rear will cause understeer. These cars already understeer from the factory and adding a larger front bar without changing the rear will just make...

Re: clattering steering wheel

Like rawley said, could be many things. Another thing to check is to see if a wheel weight has fallen off, that would cause the tires to become out of balance and could cause steering wheel vibration.

Trans swap questions

A wrecked 83 third gen showed up at the junkyard a few days ago and its got a 5 speed that I've wanted for awhile. The wrecked car is a 2.8 carb'd V6 and it'd be going into my 87 2.8 MPFI auto....

They come with everything you need. I believe you can only buy the whole kit together, they don't sell front and rears separately.

Re: Which parts are actually needed

If you want to go low I would suggest the Ground Control weight jacks over the lowering springs. That way you get to dial in your ride height exactly where you want it and pick your spring stiffness....

Re: What is the best looking spoiler on a third gen?

I've never seen one of the 4in ones, that might look good. And I completely agree on the 5 in with no gfx, but it still doesn't look as good as a normal iroc.

Re: Car was over heating and now it's not

Our cars NEED the air dam otherwise they will overheat, as you found out. That's always the first thing to look for when overheating at speed but not when stopped.
