Yes, if the fuel smell started after the whole area was disturbed with the injector change, look there first. Leaks are sometimes hard to spot on TPI because many of the connection points are hidden...

Not much difference in mating LS engine to digital dash vs. regular gages. In fact, digital dash cars already have an electronic signal converter instead of a speedo cable so it might be even easier....
