Rims and Tires board....

Maybe a little too specific and limited. It's kinda like you [IROCZTWENTYGR8] said about a fabrication board: it'd end up being the same few questions over and over again. But I feel a fabrication board (or the topic of fabrication, tools, and techniques) is a broad enough field to merit a seperate board. But there's only so much "how's this rim look?" or "can someone photoshop these wheels on my car?" that you can wade through before it becomes old hat.

not a bad idea, there is always questions and comments threads about them..
i also think with new members everyday questions will come about every now and then, and we know most people only start using the search feature after posting a few new threads that alreayd have been discussed over and over again,
over all maybe a sub-section under appearance and detailing would work out.

I don't mean a board for the "showing" of them. I mean like backspacing, what tires will fit, which are the best, where can I find these, and those types of questions. Kinda like the other half of the Suspension board. Tires and rims do affect handling.
I'm starting to kinda like the Fabrication idea a little too.

I stongly agree, rims and tires represent the singlemost important appearance modification a car owner can make. It is also one of the most expensive ones, and can be quite costly to change if the wrong choice is made.
I would love to see a wheel/tire only board.

PUNT! I was gonna make a new thread but I will just resurrect this one instead and throw in my .02c. I don't know what would go into creating something like this, but I think it might be cool if we could have something set up like the readers rides section where instead of necessarrily searching by car you could select from the different styles of wheels people use to see pics of just that wheel. It comes up on the boards all the time with people asking for pics of this wheel or that wheel. Searching the readers rides doesnt seem to be the ultimate solution either since whenever I search for a wheel I seem to end up looking at about 100 cars that plan to get that set of wheels to get to 1 that actually does. Im not sure how the picture hosting works on the bbs but you might be able to save yourself some space by just centrallizing all the pics so people arent constantly posting them on the boards. It would be even better if it could be done so you could search it both ways, for example select zr1/ss to see cars with those wheels on it, or click on camaro or firebird like the readers rides to see your type of car and the different styles that are available. I think it would be great if it could be done, or even if a drop down selection of wheels was available where you search the readers rides. With the ammount of attention that goes to tire wheel combos it might be deserving of its own spot though. Anyways just a suggestion.

IROC,
You could always run a trial board and merge it into the apearance board if need be. I think it would take some heat off of the apearance mods as well as channel all wheel topics into one forum instead of possibly 3 that we have now.

I'm usually not a fan of having even more forums here, but this is a pretty good idea, considering how in-depth wheel and tire selection can become and the fact that wheel and tire posts show up in Appearance, Suspension, and General Tech.
Go for a trial run.
