Mods suggestions for l98 350
Hello everyone I’ve been reading a lot about power adders for our cars for some time now and I think it’s time to put some wrenching time in mine. A quick backstory about my car, it’s a 88’ IROC-Z that I’ve had since I was 15, I’m 20 now and been wanting to get into drag racing. The car has the l98 350 that was rebuilt about 3 years ago or so and only put 8k miles on it since, also has the 700r4 paired with 2.77 gears. Over the years me and my old man have done things to it such as put a 58 mm BBK throttle body, hooker headers with a y pipe and 2.5 inch exhaust with a flow master super 40. Has a cat delete as well as a smog pump delete. I took my car to Portland international raceway last year and the car ran a 14.4 1/4 mile and beat my buddies 20’ wrx. Another one of my buddies gifted me some Bassett d hole wheels wrapped in cooper cobra radial g/t’s it’s a staggered set with 295/50/r15 in the rear and 235/60/r15 in the front, so she sits real pretty where it’s at right now. So here is where my question comes in, what do you guys recommend I get or do next? Any recommendations or opinions would be appreciated. I don’t really have a budget so just throw anything out there. I do want to keep the engine in the car however so no ls swaps as tempting as it is haha. I want the car for more of a drag/street build, maybe a 12 second car or under if possible I know how restrictive the tpi setup can be so any recommendations are welcome. I am new to all of this so if I’m missing anything or you guys got any questions feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer it as best as I can. I will also take the car to PIR next weekend so I will keep you guys updated on how it does. Thank you for reading
